"It's not called running away. It's called picking your battles. There's a difference." Dean drabble for 4x18.

Dean sighs as he parks the Impala. He wants to reassure Sam that this battle isn't about him. That it isn't that he doesn't think that Sam can't face Lilith, although that is apart of it. If Dean isn't ready, how can Sam be? Then again, he thinks ruefully, Sam does have some powers that Dean doesn't.

He also wants to grab Sam and yell at him for insinuating that he's running away. It isn't like he's running from childhood bullies, for Pete's sake. It's that he's running from a devil that Sam isn't ready to face.

It's a moot point at the moment, though, since they can't get out of the damn area tonight. So obviously Dean is not going to run from this one.

If there is one thing Dean is not, Dean is not a runner. He has not run from his responsibility. Hell, he raised Sam twice as much as his father did. He found financial security (or at least attempted too) admits the theft that his father had done. He tried to take care of this family.

He does not run from fights.

He's not backed down from hundreds of thousands of things. He's faced and killed demons, hell, he's been in Hell - well, there was an awkward sentence.

How dare Sam accuse him of running away?

Dean sighed as he looked longingly at the Impala.

He doesn't run away.

He picks his battles.

There's a difference.

A difference that Dean wishes to hell Sam could get.

Otherwise, he might just have to call him "bitch."

A/N: I just re-discovered Supernatural and watched episode 4x18 (yes, I watch/read everything out of order; I know) and I couldn't resist this drabble for that quote.

Hope you enjoyed or liked otherwise. Concrit is welcome. Please review.
