Gupta parted the curve of his hand just enough to peer into the enclosure of flesh. A faint look of fascination brushed over his face as a spark of light flickered in his cupped hands. With a fleeting feeling of protection he flicked his hands closed, locking the light away. A moment later he parted his cupped hands again, allowing the small source of light to crawl across his hand.
He was captivated by the bug and how it was so oblivious to the world around it, knowing only the surrounding darkness. It shuffled its delicate wings and was buffeted into the night air by a small breeze. Gupta made a desperate grab for it, cupping only air in his attempt. A familiar frown set to his lips.
"It's weird seein' ya like this. You're actin' like a child with those things," Gupta shot an unexpressive glance at Sadık but remained silent. "Then again, ya were like this last time, too." The Turk continued, his face indulged in amusement as he leaned back in the cool grass.
Sadık rolled his shoulders against the grass, trying to get comfortable. He closed his eyes for a moment and sighed in content. The moment passed and he peeked open his eyes, an eyebrow arched in emphasis. The spellbound Egyptian was a little ways away, absorbed with a pair of fireflies that has nestled against his hand. The encroached light from the bugs was reflected in Gupta's face in the form of the faintest hint of a smile.
Gupta made his way back to the Turk and crouched down in the grass beside him. He remained silent but turned his palm over, presenting the bugs to the taller nation. A child-like fascination was etched into Gupta's face, however the expression was lacking in the case of the Turk.
Sadık blinked, unsure of what he was supposed to be looking for. "…So what? It's just a bug."
Gupta was indifferent at the response and engrossed in the small sources of light crawling about his palm.
"I personally think bugs are pretty annoyin'," Sadık chuckled, taking a deep breath of the cool air. "Smoosh 'em all the time."
"…"
Gupta ever-so-slightly scooted away.
The Turk noticed and lifted up a hand and dismissively flicked his wrist, beckoning the other. "Ah, come on, Guppy. I'm not gonna smash yer little lightnin' bugs."
Gupta hesitantly scooted back.
Sadık blinked and sat up. "Actually… I remember how you were like this last time, and I brought somethin' ya might appreciate." He pulled out a simple, clear jar and passed it to the Egyptian. "Ya know, for yer bugs."
Gupta was on his feet in an instant, the jar tucked under his arm like a long-lost toy. Sadık watched in interest, unable to understand the fireflies' lure to the shorter nation.
First there was one bug collected in the jar; then three, then five, then fifteen. Gupta returned to Sadık's side, his newfound pets already getting comfortable in their new home.
Sadık smirked, seeing the idea of pet fireflies as rather childish. At that moment a small lightning bug landed safely on the Turk's nose. Sadık looked down at it, practically cross-eyed, as it huddled down on his nose.
He reached a hand up to his nose. "Bah, pesky little-" he felt a hand close around his wrist and glanced up at the expressionless Egyptian who was responsible for pulling the Turk's hand away. "Eh…?"
Gupta let go of Turkey's wrist and brought his hand up to the Turk's nose, urging the bug onto his finger. He gently slipped the bug into his jar and screwed the lid shut.
"Uh… Thanks?" Sadık said, surprised at the action.
There was silence for a long time.
Gupta blinked up at the other and tilted his head to the side, finally speaking:
"…What do I feed them?"

A/N: This was just thrown together for some practice, nothing serious. I'm trying to get back in the swing of writing- have mercy. Oh, TurkeyxEgypt. Why is this pairing growing on me so?
