She can't believe what she's hearing. They're facing impossible numbers, certain death, and yet Jubilee's ranting on again about the times she spent with the X-Men! Monet glowers at the younger girl, but then her narrowed, brown eyes see the fear trying to hide in the brown eyes gazing back at her.
Monet swallows. She hadn't expected to see Jubilee's soul in her eyes, and Jubes turns from her, continuing with her speech. "We never would've backed down! We never said quit!"
"And we're not going to," Monet finds herself speaking up, much to her surprise. "We don't need the X-Men. We're the new generation, and we're going to win this thing!"
Angelo's eyes dart between the girls as Monet smiles. "You chicas are nuts," he said, "but then I may just be insane enough to follow - "
Monet isn't listening, however. She's still staring into Jubilee's eyes, where she has at last found the truth of the girl's spunk. She isn't as stupid or childish as she pretends, and she's exactly the one M wants at her back. They're going to win this, they agree as Jubilee's eyes meet hers again from underneath her lashes. They're going to win it together.
