Soulless.
Arrogant, amusing, and completely infuriating.
Those were all words that Rosalie could use to describe her brother.
But soulless?
Never.
Everyone had a soul, even the one beast that still roamed within her memories.
Some souls were just more tangled up in a romance with sin than others.
Hopefully Bella would untangle the mess he was buried in.
For she saw his soul as beautiful.
"You think that of me?"
Lilac.
He steps forwards; the silk fabric of his shirt billowing with the wind.
Honey.
Her arms cross over her chest; a familiar movement of defense.
Sun.
"Stay out of my head." She snaps.
In her thoughts, her soul is laid bare.
'You see all but understand nothing.'
His expression crumples in sympathy.
"I don't try to pry. It's just always…there in the background."
Decades of animosity have existed between them.
Only with the birth of a star has uneasy companionship sprung between them.
"I don't have a choice about turning it off, Rose." He added softly.
She can't help but despise when he's right.
"Letting the dog have some time with Nessie?"
Abruptly she changes the subject; hoping he'll catch on.
Companionship with him makes her unsettled.
She wishes for the familiar banter of animosity once more.
"I…I came here to thank you, for everything."
He whispers; his pained features melting into awe.
She stills.
Her chest rises; her lungs drawing in fruitlessly stale air.
"Without you, my nights would be hopeless… desolate. They, they are my twilight."
Foolish, foolish man.
Rosalie would have seen the world burn to fulfill her desire.
Eternity.
Emmett.
Thirst.
None of it mattered when it came to the thing she wanted most of all.
A child.
Bella had given her the chance she had searched so desperately for.
"Everyone deserves a choice, Edward."
'I didn't have one.'
"Rose-"
"Carlisle gave me a family and she completed it."
Golden tendrils would fall forwards, shadowing her face from him.
Tender pink lips curled into a rare smile.
Who knew she would be in debt to Edward's human?
Awkwardly fingers would brush against her shoulder.
"Thank you again Rose. I'm…proud to call you my sister."
"You're welcome," She murmured.
'Brother.'
Fin.
