Stunningly Attractive

I do not own The Mortal Instruments in any way.

A/N - This takes place pre-City of Bones.

They were all in the library getting ready for that day's lesson.

Hodge counted the heads of his students.

There were 3 instead of 4.

He sighed when he realized Jace was missing.

Chloe, the newest student, was talking quietly with Alec.

Hodge would have thought that they were parabatai if he didn't know Alec was already parabatai's with Jace.

They were the quieter ones of the group, whereas Jace and Isabelle were the more outgoing ones.

And Jace loved teasing Chloe.

Hodge was sure that whenever Jace was around, Chloe was blushing. Although, he couldn't tell if it was out of embarrassment or whether she liked the young Shadowhunter boy."Chloe", Hodge said.

The girl kissed Alec on the cheek before coming over to him.

"It seems Jace is late. I was wondering if you would go and check on him", he said.

Chloe blushed and said, "Of course". She scurried out of the library and tried to calm her rapidly beating heart.

Jace was always late for lessons.

But he was the best Shadowhunter she'd ever seen.

She came to Jace's door and stopped. "Jace!" she called. She was answered with silence. She placed her ear on the door and heard nothing. She knocked on the door. "Jace!" she called again. This time she was answered with a groan and a loud thud. She giggled when she realized Jace must've just fallen out of bed. "Jace! You're late for lessons. Hodge sent me to…"

Jace opened the door…shirtless.

Chloe went silent. She'd always found Jace attractive. She couldn't help but stare at Jace's bare chest.

It was littered with Marks.

Most of them looked like scars, except the new ones, which were black.

They made Jace's skin look pale, almost like marble.

Cool, smooth, marble.

"Chloe?" he asked her.

She snapped out her daydream.

Jace crossed his arms over his chest and leaned up against the door frame.

"Umm…" she said.

Jace laughed at her which made Chloe angry.

"You're late for today's lessons", she snapped at him.

"No need to be embarrassed, dear Chloe. I know I'm stunningly attractive", he said, that stupid smirk plastered on his lips.

"Just get ready", she said and started walking away.

Jace watched her walking away from him.

The way her hips and ponytail swung slightly as she walked.

He smirked and went back into his room to get ready.

Jace entered the library an hour later and took a seat next to Chloe, who was trying her hardest not to blush. "Admit it. You find me attractive", he said, "It was obvious by the way you stared at me".

"Everyone stares at you Jace", she told him, "It's just when you open your mouth is when you turn people off".

Jace's ego deflated at that. He didn't realize that his sarcastic comments and teasing hurt Chloe's feelings. Had he already pushed her away too far for him to have her? "Well, just between you and me, I happen to find you stunningly attractive", he said softly.

This got Chloe to blush.

Jace reached over and took her hand in his.

Chloe didn't pull her hand back. She laced her fingers with Jace's and placed her other hand on their entwined ones.
