Epilogue
Clarissa Morgenstern was well-known throughout the village for two things: her exceptional beauty and her tomboyish tendencies.
Being a tomboy was looked down upon in the kingdom of Idris. Ladies were to behave with decorum and have a shy air to them. But Clarissa, or Clary as she told everyone to call her, spent afternoons wrestling with her brother Johnathan, refused to wear dresses or corsets and was the definition of 'outgoing.' She had opinions and spoke them in a rather loud manner. The boys in the kingdom still drooled over her—boys being boys.
Our story starts with Jace Herondale, a handsome, muscular young man and a pirate. He had shining blond hair cut short, hypnotizing golden eyes and a chiseled jaw. He was sly, seductive and sort of arrogant. He was good-looking and very well knew it; he used it to his advantage when seeking to steal riches from nobles. He was the captain of the ship Shadow Hunter, and had set his sights on the kingdom of Idris. He wanted to come here for two reasons. First of all, he wanted to get his hands on the famous crown of King Valentine Morgenstern. Second of all, he wanted Valentine Morgenstern's head on a stake.
More details later.
Jace knew that Idris had the biggest army in the Seven Kingdoms; he knew about Queen Jocelyn Fray; he knew the plan of the royal castle (the builder owed him a favor). He hadn't cared to learn more about Princess Clary Morgenstern. She was born into riches and fame. She was probably just a pretty face with a pea brain.
"Jace," Jace's best friend and assistant, Alec Lightwood yelled, "we're here!"
Jace saw the beautiful landscape of Idris and smirked. "We're here." he put out his cigar.
Raphael Santiago anchored the ship to the deck and the crew stepped off, cheering.
"Come on, boys. Let's get rich," Jace yelled.
