Chapter One/Thirteen

Narrator

When Aslan had told the Pevensies that they were never going back to Narnia, he meant to say also that these rules would not apply in a dire emergency. Like when Eustace, Jill, and Puddleglum went to Underlnd and didn't come back. So, when Edmund, Lucy, Peter, and Susan found themselves at King Caspian's side, Aslan told them what he knew. He knew that when a person was enchanted, their eyes had a faint tinge of a colour that was related to the enchanter who had enchanted them ('I thought when we first went to Narnia, it was just the cold effecting Edmund's eyes.' Lucy pointed out. Edmund scowled.). Therefore, just by looking at their eye colour, if they had a greenish tinge, they were enchanted.

Aslan permitted Caspian to come back to life if and when Rillian, Edmund, Eustace, Lucy, Jill, Peter, Puddleglum and Susan came back alive so he could see them one more time. Aslan appointed Edmund as the leader of the expedition, because deep and ancient magic magic from before the deeper magic from before the dawn of time says that once enchanted, a person can resist enchantments 100 times better than others. This meant that even if the others were enchanted, Edmund could save them. He also told the grop that an old enemy is there, and Edmund would be particularly annoyed by it. They all guessed it was The White Witch in disguise. Then, they set off.
