As far as I can make out, this will be the first MST3Kfic which isn't a crossover and actually features the characters. Those of you looking for riffing may wish to leave now.
It was a pleasant day for going to the zoo.
Clayton Forrester was eating lunch. He often took ate his lunch at the zoo. There were two reasons for this.
The first was that he liked to watch the movies in certain exhibits and make fun of them in the back row.
The second was Larry.
Clay licked his pistachio ice-cream and wandered towards the monkey cage.
"Hello, Larry, my simian-tending associate," he said.
Larry turned, pulled up his wielding mask, and looked up at Clay.
He was repairing the monkey cage.
"Hello, you stripe-haired, mustached…scientist…person…guy…"
"Better," said Clay. "We'll work on that."
"Speaking of work…"
"The monkeys escaped again, didn't they, Larry."
"I shouldn't be here," he said. "I studied education for six years. I'm qualified to teach engineering." I shouldn't be here." He pulled back down his mask and continued wielding the bars to the monkey cage.
"It's a shame," said Clay. "No market for that sort of thing these days." Larry could no longer hear him, and so he continued licking his ice cream.
Pistachio was his favorite.
Larry finished with the cage and stopped wielding.
"There's a movie showing in the nocturnal building," said Clay. "You can get us in for free, can't you?"
Larry shook his head. "I can't. I'm training the interns this afternoon." He sighed. "That, at least, is something to look forward to. I'm teaching in some capacity." He considered for a moment. "You have a job now. You can afford it. Go on your own, I don't mind."
"Alright," said Clay. "I'll say hi to the moles for you."
"Great," said Larry. "And tell Dick Button I said hello."
"Shut up, you underdeveloped Urkel wannabe," said Clay with a grin. Larry waved goodbye and started packing away his wielding supplies.
As he headed for the lunch room, Laurence Erhardt decided he could go for a carton of milk.
Well? Good? Bad? Be sure to leave a review. I look forward to reading those.
