#77 - "would you like to share the blanket"

I really hope you like this!

"I can't believe you're bailing out on me!" Said Regina with an exasperated sigh. "This is a final we're talking about, the most important game of the entire football season, most teams don't even make it half this far…" The brunette woman was desperately trying to convince her best friend. "You cannot possibly be even entertaining the idea that skipping 'The Champions League' final is something someone with tickets and their team in there should do!" She was ranting by the point she finished her argument, grabbing her best friend by her forearms, trying to make her see reason.

No one would ever point Regina Mills as a football fanatic, it was something that the twenty years old girl could hide very well behind her feminine personality, since people, especially men, tend to think football and sports in general are something exclusively for them to enjoy and like. Well, they couldn't be more wrong concerning the brunette, she was a fan since she could remember, the taste by this sport being ingrained in her by her mother since a very young age.

"Regina, I can't skip my grandfather's eighty's birthday party for a football match!" Emma chuckled saying that, she couldn't believe how fanatic her friend was.

Regina sighed, she knew her friend was right, but the thought of going to such an important game alone made her unhappy, with whom was she going to celebrate and complain during the match, it was no fun without someone to share the emotions with.

"I know you're right, but you know how much I like these things, my mom and dad can't come because of work, Zelena has a date with her boyfriend" The brunette rolled her eyes saying that. "And you have your grandad's party, I'm going to be super lonely." She said forming a pout with her lips.

"God knows there are going to be plenty of crazy people like you for you to share the emotions with." At that, both friends laughed. Regina knew Emma was right, but it wasn't going to be the same thing without her best friend.

"Don't forget to take your blanket with you, I heard in the news we are expecting the coldest night in the year that day. You don't want to freeze to dead before you can see your boys winning the big shiny cup." Emma was enjoying teasing her friend way too much, but at the same time she was right, Regina couldn't forget her kit for cold day matches, there's nothing worse than having to sit in a cold spot for two hours with freezing legs.

"Yeah, yeah, tease what you like, but you weren't making fun of my blanket last time."

The two friends hugged, sharing their goodbyes and making plans to meet the day after the game.

"Robin, are you going now?" His mother, Elizabeth, called from the bottom of the stairs. "Please make sure you are warm enough, the weather guy said it's literally freezing out there." His mother's concern was not new to him, so he didn't pay her much attention coming down the stairs zipping his team hoodie and putting his scarf around his neck.

"Calm down mom, you know the energy inside the stadium makes everyone worm and cozy, no need to take that much clothes with me, don't worry." He kissed her frown and chuckle. "I promise you I won't be cold, this isn't my first rodeo." He said directing her his signature smile.

Elizabeth was not entirely convinced but knew discussing with her stubborn son wouldn't take her anywhere.

"Don't say I didn't warn you!" She said leaving him his cue to leave.

He was starting to wish he had listened to his mother, because every single part of his body was freezing, his nose, his feet, his hands, even his butt.

He only wished that once inside it would be warmer, otherwise this game would be hell for him.

Regina was in line waiting to be searched before she could enter the stadium, she was starting to feel a slight chill in her toes, although every single surface of her body was being covered by thermal material. She had her cap, scarf, extra thick stocking and really warm pants and hoodie, on top of that was her winter coat a small blanket, that although now rested on her back, was intended for her legs once she was settled in her seat.

She went by security and was finally making her way inside the stadium. She took a moment to appreciate and take in her surroundings, she loved it, the smell of grass recently cut, popcorn, all the noise and songs, it was magical to her.

She took her ticket out of her pocket to check the number of her seat, seat 23, fourth row.

Regina made her way there, wanting to sit down and finally put some warm in her legs, now that she was still she could feel the cold making his way into her bones.

"Twenty, twenty-one, twenty-two, twenty-…" She looked up to find someone in her seat. "I'm sorry." She was faced with a pair of deep blue eyes and for a second she forgot was she was about to say.

"Yes?" Asked the handsome stranger.

"Oh, I believe you're occupying my seat, twenty-tree, see?" She held her ticket in front of his face and he was quick to stand.

"I'm sorry, milady." She had lived in the UK all her life, but she had never listened such beautiful accent. She watched as he took his own ticked out of his pocked and checked it. "Twenty-two!" He said. "I wasn't that far way." He chuckled making her smile unconsciously.

He moved so she could pass by him, but the space between rows was small, making their bodies brush against each other as they traded places. Regina blushed slightly, something she could blame the cold for and sat down, removing the blanket from her back and laying it down on her legs.

The game would start in about ten minutes.

"I'm Robin, by the way." She moved her head so she could face him, looking down she could see he had extended his hand for her to shake. Has she did so a shiver went through her body.

"Geez, your hands are freezing." She said but made no movement to remove her hand from his.

"I'm sorry…" He made a pause waiting for her name.

"Regina."

"Regina." He repeated as if tasting how her name sounded on his lips. "What a beautiful name."

The brunette felt a warm spread in her cheeks and hoped that the cold that could be felt in the air was enough to justify it.

"Thank you."

He looked at her for a few more seconds and then looked away facing the field.

"Do you come here often?" The blue-eyed man asked, not wanting his engagement with the beautiful lady to end.

"I do, actually, I'm quite the football fan." She said proud of herself.

That seemed to put a big smile on his face, making her smile as well.

"And your boyfriend doesn't come with you? Don't tell me his from another team." He was hopping her answer would not ruin all his chances and by the way she smirked he knew she had understood why he made such question.

"I don't have a boyfriend." She said facing away. "But he couldn't be from another team if I had." She chuckled now looking at him again.

Robin was more than happy to know it, he didn't know what it was, but Regina had something in her that pulled him towards her, like a magnet was pulling him in.

"Good." He said locking his eyes with hers.

She was the one who broke their intense staring as she heard the team anthem starting.

A gust of wind went to the stadium making her cower inside her jacket, and beside her she felt Robin shiver, she remembered how cold his hand had felt against hers and decided to throw caution to the wind.

"Care to share a blanket." She said shyly.

That seemed to throw him off a little bit, he clearly wasn't expecting that offer, but once the shook run down a huge smile appeared on his face.

"Thank you, milady." He approached her as she lifted the blanket for them to share. "I really should have listened to my mother, wasn't expecting it to be this cold." He was so close to her she could feel his cold breathing in her face, but she didn't mind it.

"The game is about to start, we gotta pay attention now." She smiled and looked away in the exact moment the player made the first kick.

They were about 30 minutes into the game and none of the teams had scored yet. Robin moved his hands under the blanket brushing hers and she could feel how cold they still were.

She turned to him.

"Your hands are still freezing, here." She moved her owns in his direction taking them in her hold. "Maybe this can help." She smiled and he swears his heart stoped. He didn't realize they were so close until he looked down to see her lips a few centimeters from them. He wanted to press their lips together so much but he didn't want to press her, after all, they had just met.

"Yeah, that helps, a lot." He said trying to focus on her eyes, but that made it even worse, she had such beautiful eyes. "You are so beautiful…" He realized what he said and his eyes went wide. "I meant warm…you are so warm." His cheeks were flushed and not from the cold.

"Really?" She asked smiling softly. "I was kind of hopping you meant beautiful." Regina didn't know where all this bravery had come from, but she liked this man she had just met, she felt something pulling her towards him, and she was too much of a romantic to ignore something that seemed so much as love at first sight, not that she loved him, but still, what was the harm in giving it a shot.

"I meant beautiful." He admitted. "You are the most beautiful girl I've ever seen."

At that she lost her words, not knowing exactly what to respond.

"Are your hand warmer?" She asked stroking them softly.

"Yes, but my lips are freezing." He hopped not to scare her with that one, but she was showing signs she liked him too, so why not just take the chance.

She didn't answer him, only moved forward, closing her eyes. He copied her movements meeting her half way for a sweet kiss.

As soon as their lips met, the stadium erupted in applauses and screams of joy, their team scored, but neither of them noticed, as they were too lost in each other's warm to care about anything else.
