Based off the last episode of Tokyo Mew Mew. What if Ichigo's kiss DIDN'T save Masaya?

-----

In the stories, the prince always faces so much danger to reach his beloved. Then he kissed her, and she woke up, and they lived happily ever after.

She should've known it didn't work the other way around.

She had kissed him, just before he died – desperately, trying to save him, to just do something

But the princess could not save her prince.

Masaya died.

She let him die.

She sobbed.

The earth was saved, everyone was alright, the aliens stopped attacking… but it was all upside down, because he was gone, far away in heaven.

Everything was gray. No black and white. No where to go, except her room – locking herself in, eating only because they told her to, only because she could not think, only because they could control her in this state.

She could not move on.

She was chained to the past, and someone had taken away the key – or had she herself bound herself, and thrown away the key?

No matter – she could not move forward, she could only stay still, frozen, unable to take a step and continue on. She was tired, so tired, of this, of everything.

She had gone such a long way, she had fought, she had cried, she had worked so hard – and yet, in the end, she lost the thing most dear to her.

Apparently the "equivalent exchange" she had once heard of no longer existed.

She wanted for time to just rewind, or perhaps just stop… no, that wasn't right.

She wanted the world to be covered in darkness, for the sky to cry everyday, for no one to smile. Smiles and sunshine and light forced her to realize that her room was her only refuge, the only place that she could stay in mourning, without her chains to the past being shattered.

But soon she realized – the longer she stayed, the longer the sun would draw her away, away from the darkness, away from the past, away from him. She would forget him, and he would become a fading memory.

She would not, no; she could not let that happen.

It was very, very easy to fill the tub. Her parents were out, and Minto stayed there to watch over her. Ichigo assured her that she was only taking a bath, and that was it.

She was very happy with her persuasive powers.

She climbed in the tub, and submerged herself, feeling the rush of water flow into her lungs, and felt herself get dizzy. The world was a whirlpool, and she would be sucked under, and at the bottom would be Masaya.

She smiled knowingly, as a thought passed through her head.

Her story was not a Snow White as she hoped, but a Romeo and Juliet, wasn't it?

End----

…um. Yeah. No idea where THIS came from. oo
