Chapter 1: It all begins

Ichigo opens his eyes waking in a cold sweat from his familiar nightmare. He looks at the clock it's only 2:30, great he thought only half an hour sleep, he could never get to sleep after a nightmare.

He rolled over, trying to get comfortable, he couldn't

He sighed and rolled onto his back he reached out and grabbed his favourite stuffed animal, the lion he named Kon, it was the thing his mum gave him before she was killed

He looked at the clock again and saw it was only 3:00 damn he thought another sleepless night. He sits up running one hand through his orange hair think he should get it cut. Swinging his legs over his bed walking to the toilet trying to be careful and not wake anyone else.

When he was finished he walked past his sisters' room, they're usually really loud snorers but all is quiet, he peers in and has to stifle a scream at what he saw in there

There was blood splattered everywhere he ran in to room to the twins' bed there was no sign of them just two pools of blood. He ran out of the room and down the stairs to his fathers' room and was met with a similar sight he backed out of the room and heard a crash coming from upstairs, coming from his room. He ran up and started sneaking along the corridor sweating and shivering from the cold, thinking he needs to start wearing a shirt to bed.

He looked around his door frame and he saw Kon in the door way ripped in half, somehow that was the most painful thing of all, there were to men inside one was tall and had long blue hair the other was short and had black hair, they had their backs to him and at their feet were the members of his family they were unconscious but seemed to be unharmed.

He could hear them talking the tall one said "Ulquiorra he's not here, does that mean all of this was for nothing? I mean he was the real reason we came here" the other replied "no he's still in the house just add the blood to the walls and let's find him and get out of here"

Ichigo backed away from the door processing what he heard they were after him, his family were in danger because these creeps wanted him for who knows what, plus he had said to put blood on the wall which means the blood he saw in the others rooms was fake, he heard footsteps coming towards him, he had to get out of there, but he couldn't leave his family he could be the reason for any more death, he'd already killed his own mother.

He ran down the stairs looking for any weapon that he could use, he grabbed a baseball bat that was lying on the floor and grabbed it, he stood leaning against the wall at the base of the stairs waiting for them to come, he heard them talking

'…looks like he got away" the blue haired one said the other replied "he could still be in the house let's keep…" that was as far as he got before Ichigo hit him over the head with the bat knocking him to the floor and causing him to drop his sisters' which had been carrying before taking a swing the bluenette who dodged and through his father at him, he caught his father Isshin before he felt a sharp pain on the back of his head he looked behind him met the most startling green eyes he had ever seen, it was the second guy.

He felt dizzy like he was gonna pass out, no he shook his trying to clear it; he dodged a punch from the first guy while the second guy kicked his stomach he flew across the room and out the door. Onto the street, he lay on the road feeling dizzy, he heard them approaching he jumped up and ran down the street looking back he saw they, weren't chasing back rather walking back into the house.

He stopped and waited for them to reappear, in about 5 minutes they did carrying his dad and his 2 younger sisters, only now they had their hands and ankles tied together, his dad had come to and was trying to fight the blue haired one who happened to be carrying him, "damn it let me go, Yuzu Karin hang in there dads' gonna get you out of this so just hold on" Ichigo heard him yell. "What have you done? Where's my son, tell me where he i…" he got cut off when the green eyed man knocked him out.

Ichigo wanted to run forward and help them, but he felt weak and dizzy from all the hits he took. Though it broke his heart into pieces he ran off down the street, towards his best friends' house Chad, who was the strongest person he knew.

He rounded the corner and ran up to Chad's house and banged on the door calling his name. Just as the two men rounded the corner, when they saw him they dropped his family and ran towards him.

There was nowhere to run he tried the door but it was locked as he thought. They were on him before he knew it, he dodged a punch then a kick, he got punched on his jaw knocking him back onto the door, and he got kicked in his stomach, he slid to the floor the door keeping him upright while the two men kept punching and kicking him. The door opened and he slid back, he looked up and saw Chad's surprised.

Chad swung a fist and they dodged he broke the side of the door showering the now semi-conscious Ichigo with rubble "opps" muttered Chad as he looked down at his best friend, who smiled weakly back before passing out.

Chad looked up from his friend feeling anger towards the 2 men that hurt him, looking past them he was the rest of Ichigos' family tied up lying on the road, while he was distracted the one with green eyes had grabbed Ichigo and started to run, he called back "Grimmjow just forget his family we got what we came for so come."

Grimmjow smiled creepily and ran off after Ulquiorra who was still carrying Ichigo like he weighed nothing. Cursing Chad run after them but he couldn't catch up, cursing he turned back to where Ichigos' family was lying, he quickly untied them and helped Isshin to his feet who had already regained consciousness, but Yuzu and Karin haven't Chad and Isshin picked them up and carried them into Chad's house, Chad couldn't look him in the eyes knowing that he hadn't protected Ichigo and that he let them get away with him.

When the twins were in Chad's bed Isshin was sitting at the table and Chad made them both a cup of tea. "Chad tell me how we ended up here, and where's Ichigo is he ok?" Chad stared into his cup thinking of the best way to put this. He sighed deeply before starting. "I woke up to someone banging on my door and yelling my name, I got up and when opened the door Ichigo feel in covered in blood and these two guys were standing over him, he slipped unconscious and I saw you and the twins unconscious when I looked back they had ran off down the street I tried to chase them but I lost sight of them. So I came back to help you."

Isshin jumped up and yelled at Chad. "YOU LET THOSE BASTARDS GET AWAY WITH MY SON" He sat back down, looking defeated, and he let a tear slid down his cheek. Chad looked away and said "we should call the police. Isshin just nodded.

Ichigo groaned and tried to move but found his hands chained to the wall and a collar around his neck, and ankle cuffs keeping him completely immobilised, he struggled trying to free himself. He was in pain every part of him hurt from his fight, when he suddenly heard a voice.

"Welcome Ichigo, welcome to your new life."
