I could see him. Blonde hair, black eyes, in rather old fashioned clothes, wet from the rain, looking awkward in a dark diner, but I wasn't seeing it as dark. I saw myself move towards him, and his eyes wondering, shocked, unsure… then the picture I saw faded. I saw another almost as soon as the other of the beautiful man had faded, of a group of people, eyes a light topaz colour, all deathly white and a big house somewhere in the north. I knew that that was where I was eventually headed, after I'd found the man in my first picture. Names came to me in a flurry. Carlisle, the tall older man; Esme, the sweet looking caramel haired woman; Emmett, the bulkily boy; Rosalie the dashing blonde and Edward the tousled haired youngest. The blonde man wasn't with them, but he soon would be, when I'd found him.
I opened my eyes; wide. There was light, all colours, I couldn't think to name a single one. I thought about sitting up and there I was, almost upright, alone, in a… green… that was the word… world. I gasped and for some reason the action felt wrong. Completely wrong, there was no reflex to my action. No reason for it, but I could taste everything in the air. There was a sickly sweet Smokey flavour in the air. Standing, I gave it no thought as I looked around me with eyes so clear, like I'd never seen a thing before. I was very sure that I hadn't.
I became aware of the burning in my throat. I wondered what had caused it. I looked down at myself; I was wearing an odd assortment of clothes. I wondered who had dressed me. Whoever it was didn't have a very good sense of style, I thought wryly. They would do for now.
The burning wasn't that unmanageable, and until I could have to figure out how to cure it, it wasn't bothering me.
The word Vampire floated into my mind. It had come from one of my visions. Instantly I was able to connect the word to the beautiful scarred blonde I had seen first and then the family who we would find. I stretched out my arm and looked closely at my skin. It was deathly pale. I pulled a face. Did that mean I was one as well? At the moment I was able to believe that. I let out a strange sound from my lips and realised that it was a giggle. Birds stirred in the trees around me
I began to move through the trees, marvelling at the colour, the scent, the sounds and the feel of the environment around me.
I paused for a second. The name of the beautiful blonde who's fate was connected to mine, the first one I'd seen, in that diner. Where was I headed and what was his name. The other names and the location of my new family came out of no where with the picture I'd seen. I wondered if the same thing was true of my first picture. I stood, concentrating as much as possible, my eyes closed, so my concentration didn't wander, as I knew it wanted to. The place where I was to meet him floated forward in my mind. Philadelphia. I smiled in relief, I knew where now, but who was he?
The name floated forward like the other names and a smile broke onto my lips. Such an old name, but perfect for him.
"Jasper." I sighed happily and set off at a run
