The group was all there, and Frankie was the last to sit down. She pulled out her binder and pen. Just as she was about to bring up Greendale's new mascot, Abed states, "So when are you two gonna date?", swinging his finger between Annie and Frankie.
Confused looks are shared around the table.
"What?" Annie says.
"Well the story's been building now, and the audience anticipates it, so I'm curious when it will actually happen."
"Abed, you can't just put two people together without them knowing it for your made up TV show!" Annie says. A quick, concerned look exchanges between Annie and Frankie.
"Well I, for one, am not opposed to it," Jeff chimes in.
"Jeff!" Annie says. She grabs her backpack and stands up. "I need to go to class!"
The group takes this as a cue to disband for the morning, and Abed follows Chang out while Elroy, Jeff, and Britta head the other way.
Frankie quickly follows Annie to her ladders class. "Annie! Annie, wait!" She finally reaches where Annie is just sitting in the front. Class doesn't actually start for another six minutes. "Annie, are you okay? Do...do you wanna talk?"
Annie just looks at Frankie in mild desperation. Frankie says, "you know I wouldn't ask you to skip class, but I feel like this is...important to you." Annie starts to tear up and looks down. She looks back up and nods at Frankie. Frankie nods back and lightly wraps her arm around Annie to lead her out of class.
Not far from the room, they see Abed and Britta in the distance. Frankie pulls Annie into an A/V back room. It's dim, but spacious and without much chance of intrusion. They sit on two folding chairs.
The silence lasts long enough for each of them to gather their thoughts. "Annie?"
"Frankie, I...dont know what to say, but about what Abed said...I mean, I..."
"I know." Frankie says. She pauses. "Annie, do you want to be together?"
They both pause.
"I do." Annie says.
Frankie smiles. "Okay. Well then, can I kiss you?" She asks rhetorically, and the next moment both she and Annie lean in for a simple kiss.
Annie's joy is apparent in the smile and gleeful bouncing following this kiss. Frankie is equally as beaming in her smile. "Should we go tell the group?" Frankie asks.
"Yes! We meet in 15 more minutes," and heading to the library, Annie states, "although, Frankie, you should know: I HAVE kissed Jeff before...and Abed...even almost Britta one time! So it might be a LITTLE strange to them all."
"Annie. I don't think we have to worry about it much. Because apparently this group can get through the strangest, dumbest, most improbable situations and still stick together."
"It's true," Annie says slowly, "we do DO a lot...and I know it seems like this is just another fling for the cute girl in Abed's community college show, but ...I think the difference is, well, that you like me back, more than any one else has."
Frankie looked down at Annie with endearment and said, "It's true: I do like you back...very much, actually. And I'm glad Abed has this 'show,' because otherwise we may have never expressed to each other how we felt."
They both stop and smile. Frankie wraps her arm around Annie as they kiss innocently. Then they continue to the library, holding on to each others' sides.
