Chapter 1: Kristy

Kristy buckled up the twins in their matching carseats and started the car. "Did you remember your backpacks?" asked Kristy.

"Yes Mommy!" was the answer. Kristy brushed a tear away.

She couldn't believe the twins were starting Kindergarten already!

She remembered HER first day of Kindergarten- the day her Dad left them forever. That was the day she and Mary Anne Spier became best friends with Claudia Kishi, the art maniac of the group.

Kristy chuckled at the memory of Claudia asking the teacher if she could have her third easel, when most kids hadn't even started yet.

And now HER kids were going to the same Kindergarten she had!

She had convinced Bart, her husband, to stay right in Stonybrook, the same town they had both grown up in when they had gotten married- almost nine years before.

"Mommy?" asked Eliza, the more curious twin.

"Yes Eliza?" asked Kristy.

"Will Vi be there?"

"Yes, sweetie," said Kristy. Vi, or Violet, was Eliza and Jane's best friend, the daughter of Abby McKinley, one of Kristy's old friends from her teen days.

They pulled into Stonybrook Elementary, and Kristy helped them out. On the way in, the saw Abby and her seven-month old baby, with Vi standing shyly at her side. "Oh, hi Abby!" said Kristy, reaching to give Abby a hug over the baby.

"Oh Kristy! It is SO good to see you! Hi Eliza, Jane! Your first day too I see!" said Abby. Jane nodded for the two.

"Vi's first day as well, but Xavier just headed to his 3rd grade classes, so we were just heading to the Kindergarten room." said Abby, hoisting little baby Quintin on her hip.

They all headed down the hall into the Kindergarten room, where Mrs. Jessica was waiting for them. "Hello Vi, Eliza, Jane, Kristy, Abby! So nice to see ya'll!"

After some brief hellos, the twins and Vi ran off to the Music Corner until class began. Kristy smiled.

"Well, I better be off! I have to go drop Quintin here over at daycare while I go run some errands. Bye Kristy, and I hope to see you soon!" she called, as she walked off.

Kristy waved. "I'd better go as well, but thanks so much Jessica!"

she said to the teacher.

"Oh, no problem! Bye!"

Kristy went back to her car and had a good long cry, before turning the keys to go home. She couldn't believe her babies were growing up so fast!
