Been rewatching The Doctor Dances and... well... plot bunny! Reviews are awesome.

"Rose! I've just remembered! I can dance!"

She grinned and shot Jack another look—the same one he's had to watch all night. That cute, sly little smile, and a tilt of the head.

Nice blast pattern… I like it

Oh, I know. First day I met him, he blew up my job. That's practically how he communicates.

I trust him cause he's like you. Cept with dating and dancing.

Doesn't the universe implode or something if you… dance?

You got the moves? Show me your moves.

Captain Jack fixed me up…

And oh! He'd seen it before. This is how it starts; they meet someone, then before you know it they're sneaking around the TARDIS, shooting each other those sly little looks, as if he doesn't know what's going on. Then she leaves, and what happens to forever?

Maybe he should have been happy that she's found someone who can give her what she needs. Because if anyone deserved to be happy, it was Rose.

Sometimes, he let himself hope she might just be happy with him. But it was just a daydream, really.

Yet still, he found himself offering her his hand. Like he's not yet willing to give up on this one.

She took it and they danced around the console. He put on his best show; and as he flipped her over his knee, he shot Jack a warning glance.

Jack caught the Doctor's glance. 'Mine, hands off'! It seemed to say. Of course, that had never stopped Jack in the past. But he knew it wasn't wise to pick a fight with the designated driver; especially when that driver could easily throw you out an airlock.

But Rose had clearly been flirting with Jack. Was she really his?

He'd have to wait and see.

Rose felt herself being pulled up gently. Panting slightly, she leant into the Doctor's chest.

"Where'd a good girl like you learn to dance like that?"

She stumbled, flustered. He'd never openly flirted with her like that.

You just assume I'm n- I don't dance?

Well, yeah! That pretty much had been what she'd been thinking. She'd pretty much assumed that he'd see her interest as a childlike crush. Could he ever think of her in that way?

"I—I…"

"Mind if I interrupt?" Jacks slick American accent oozed.

They both blushed and backed away.

"Yeah, sure. I'll show you to your room, will I Doctor?"

No! You won't be going anywhere alone with him! He was tempted to say.

"Right, sure"

The Doctor watched Rose lead Jack down the hallway. Tapping his fingers on the console, he tried to resist the urge to watch them. For about five seconds.

He brought them up on the monitor; watching Rose show Jack a room right next to hers. There was no sound; he watched as they exchanged words, before Jack moving in to kiss her. He doesn't seem to have heard the warning.

But Rose moved away, smiling and shaking her head. He doesn't find the gesture all that comforting.
