Dreams or Visions

A/N: Hello one and all! I thought that everyone could use a little reassurance after last Monday's episode. No spoilers for that one though. Just mild spoilers for 'By the Skin and Teeth.' It's short but hey drabbles are cool! Please review!! Thanks!

Clear surf, white beaches, and the bluest sky you could imagine greeted the Burrows/Scofield family. Lincoln, Michael, and LJ sat on lawn chairs in front of their half built house as they admired the view. The small family had moved to Mexico a little over a month ago and was finally living a carefree life.

They slept in hammocks, ate cheap food, drank cheaper beer (except for LJ who drank Coke due to Michael's demand even though the younger man complained that there was no age limit here) and worked on the house. In fact they had just spent the entire day working on the house and were only stopping because the sun was beginning to set.

Lincoln reached into the cooler that sat beside them and pulled out a beer and a Coke. He tossed the Coke to LJ then looked over at Michael and asked if he wanted a beer. Michael didn't even notice that Lincoln had said anything because he was deeply engrossed in his latest revisions of blueprints for their future house.

'Some things never change.' Lincoln thought as he put his own beer down and reached in the cooler for another one. He shook the second one hard as LJ watched with a quizzical look. Lincoln smiled evilly at his son then tilted the can toward his brother and opened it. Beer sprayed everywhere but mostly on Michael, who jumped in surprise.

Lincoln and LJ doubled over with laughter and after a moment Michael even joined in. LJ began to laugh so hard that Coke spilt from his nose, which made his father and uncle laugh even harder. After a few minutes they all calmed down and Michael wiped the beer off his face. The three of them sat in silence drinking their beverages and looking out at the sparkling ocean after that.

LJ looked back at their partially completed house, glanced out at the water and golden sunset, and then looked at Lincoln and Michael. The two looked perfectly content and all sign of stress and worry had seemed to disappear. The only sign of what they had been though was that Michael still wore long sleeves.

Lincoln looked over at Michael and the two broke into huge grins. Lincoln looked over at LJ and he too began to smile, although he didn't know what they were smiling about. 'They finally got the perfect life they deserve. We all did.' LJ thought, knowing that their lived would be good from now on.

LJ opened his eyes, fully expecting to see a blue sky and wondering why he couldn't here the ocean. What greeted him instead was the ceiling of the room that he was staying in with Veronica and the lawyer guy. LJ sleepily looked over at his calendar. He bolted upright as he realized what day it was.

His father's execution.

Tears welled in the young man's eyes as he thought about never seeing his dad again. An incredible sense of lose and loneliness filled him and the event hadn't even happened yet! The tears fell down his face as helplessness washed over him.

But then he remembered the dream he had just had. He suddenly felt the same warm sense of comfort that he had felt before and he knew that everything would be ok. LJ didn't know how but he knew deep down in his heart that what he dreamed would be the way their lives would turn out.

He wasn't going to lose his father and the three of them would be a family soon.

He knew it.

The End
