Eiji's Crush

It had been a very regular afternoon. The golden pair were talking about a recent tennis match and about classmates when the subject of girls came up.
The subject unnerved Oishi. Girls made him nervous. He didn't know what it was about them that completely baffled him, but he always liked to keep a safe distance from them. His fan club didn't help things much.
Still, it seemed like Eiji had changed the subject for a reason. He seemed a little more quiet than usual, although a little anxious.
"Is….there anyone you like?" Oishi asked hesitantly. He really didn't like to talk about the subject, but he knew that was exactly what Eiji wanted him to ask.
"Um….Yeah…but…" the redhead blushed, looking down at his hands. "Do you promise not to tell?"
Oishi nodded patiently, trying to encourage him.
"I….like…Sumire…"
Oishi blinked. The name sounded familiar. He felt like he had heard before, more than once. Then it hit him.
He promptly spat out his drink.
"Sumire?! As in Sumire Ryuzaki...as in COACH RYUZAKI?!" he exploded, not even bothering to hide his shock.
"Yes…She's so strong, nya…." He said dreamily.
"But…. RYUZAKI!" Oishi wanted to scream, but one look at Eiji's face made him realize that his doubles partner was serious about his crush.
"When did it start?" he asked seriously, wanting to scream inside about the ridiculousness of it all.
"It was training camp…when I saw her talking to some of the other coaches and joking. She looked so alive and happy." Eiji anxiously put his hands on his cheeks to cover his blush.
Oishi closed his eyes, trying to think of ways to talk some sense into Eiji. He definitely couldn't let him confess. No. That would be a disaster.
It made him sick just thinking about it.
Eiji wasn't displaying any common sense right now. He had to be sensible enough for the both of them.
"How do you feel about her….age?" he asked, inwardly wincing at his own bluntness. He wanted to sound a little more delicate with his words, but it was nearly impossible.
"What do you mean?"
"She's…..um….a bit older."
Eiji grinned brightly. "I like older women!"
"But…geriatrics…?!!!" Oishi cried out in frustration, his almost divine level of patience had been pushed too far by Eiji's strange taste in women.
Eiji glared, not really looking very threatening, but it was still enough to shock Oishi out of his annoyance.
"You're mean, Oishi! I knew I shouldn't have told you!" the redhead glared, stomping away angrily.
Oishi blinked, too confused to really go after Eiji. Shrugging, he resigned himself to the fact that his world was just pure crack.
