So, I have based this story partly on the book: The Devil in the White City. Partly meaning that I'm using one of the characters as inspiration. HH Holmes, and his murder castle. I thought it would be a great idea to base this with Macavity as it suits him so much.
I don't own characters of the musical cats, any OCs are mine.
Chapter One.
The Devil Came out to Play.
It had been said that the house, more like, castle on the end of the road was run by the demon cat. That those who entered the place never came out. Never. Dark clouds mostly formed around the sky near the house, never leaving. A bad vibe always hung over it and the surrounding areas.
Demeter, in her lifetime, had seen many of the Jellicle's dragged in by the henchman that roamed the area. It was the main threat for them. She had also seen queens, of any age, being bewitched by the tom who run the whole operation and just…go in. Walk into their doom. Her mother being one of those. She shuddered at the memories of the past, pushing them down deep in her mind.
"Demey." A tom voice spoke up, a cautious paw on her shoulder. "Deme."
"Hm? Oh, Munkus." A small smile appeared on her usual frowned face, her nose nuzzling his cheek contently. It was how she showed that she felt safe. "Are they coming?" She asked, clearing her throat.
"Soon..." He whispered solemnly. "We should get inside before they do..." He offered a paw towards her. Demeter accepted warily. Her eyes locked onto him as they strolled towards the haven of safety. To Demeter, Munkustrap was the only one she could ever trust.
The safe haven of the abandoned grand piano, many Jellicles were already huddled up. The kittens were put together, they had no clue on what was happening, and they either just slept or played. The adults, or those old enough would be silent. Not speaking or moving. Jennyanydots, the nursing cat, would settle near the kittens and keep an eye on them, making sure none would leave their spot. Then there was Admetus on the door, making sure none of the other cats left. It was an operation that had been in force since Demeter was a kitten. She stayed close to the black and white tabby, hiding her face when they passed the kittens who now understood what was happening. Rumpleteazer and her brother had come to the age where they understood what this event was about.
Demeter and Munkustrap sat themselves near the leader of the Jellicle Tribe, Old Deuteronomy.
"Demeter." He nodded his head in greeting, "My son." Munkustrap nodded in acknowledgement. That was the last of the words.
Night settled in quickly, noises being heard from outside.
"They're here." Admetus whispered as he stared out the crack in the wall. Outside, black cats with wild fur stalked the junk yard alleyways. A sour snickering come from them as they talked together. The golden eyes of Admetus followed them closely, before a flashing came before his eyes. The whole junkyard lightening up for a split second.
"He's here..." Addie gulped. There on the top of the junk pile stood an electric red tom, with hints of black here and there. His eyes a menacing yellow, which glared over the yard.
"Come out, come out where ever you are." He sang tauntingly, tapping his foot in annoyance. "I can wait out here all night."
His voice shook the Jellicles, causing fear throughout their bodies. It wasn't common for the devil to come out to play, but that night, he had. And no one knew why, it was different. His voice was one which should be feared. Even the kittens froze and hid behind the nursing cat. Silence once again. The only voice in the entire junkyard was the singing of Macavity, taunting them.
Again, I usually do short chapters for the first one. But it will pick up! I hope you enjoy.
