Mend Me Please Doc!

Normal Saturdays started for me at 4.30 a.m. I had a yard full of horses to tend to before loading my superstars Twilight, Eclispe and the baby of the group New Moon onto the truck and heading down the road to La Push for the big One Day Event.

I wearily clambered out of the bed at 3.30 am and noted his absence yet again! He claimed he was working late and stayed in Seattle for the asked if he would be there to support me, his response was a non commital shrug of his shoulders.I did not dare challenge him as his moods had been very volatile lately and I just put that down to work pressure. Jake was a successful lawyer and had been working with his firm on a big case with his firm against the shady Volturi Brothers. His absences were more and more frequent but I just focused more and more on my horses!

I loved my babies so was my aunt Carmen was a successful rider in her day and was my hero!I couldn't wait to emmulate her and represent my country at international this event was local,it was also National Trials Day for up and coming riders to make a breakthrough to get long listed for the National Team for the World Championships in Ireland next year.

I wandered into the yard after dressing and grabbing a quick travel mug of coffee to see a hive of activity! The truck was already loaded from the night before with all the stuff that 3 horses needed and trust me,that is a lot of stuff!Jasper Hale, my yard manager was double checking on all my equipment as my head groom Rosalie Hale-McCarthy lead Twilight forward to be loaded!

'Hey Boss-lady' she quipped cheekily 'The boys are is super form already,Moonie has already tried to bite me on the arm so Its gonna be a good day'...I laughed,Only Rose would find the positive in the horse trying to take a chunk out of her.I bent down and checked my beautiful chestnut stallions travel bandages, ran my hand down his silken neck and planted a kiss on his white zigzag blaze that ran down his pranced merrily up the ramp to his stable and I closed up the ramp and walked to the cab of the set off to the sounds of my boys stamping imperiously in the back of the truck and to the insessant chatter of the junior groom, Alice Brandon.

Did you ever have a feeling that something wasn't right!Well today was one of those days and I just prayed to God that myself and the boys came home in one peace but boy was I wrong!
