Second Chance

Chapter One

Yuuki

The day started off as usual for Yuuki Konno. She woke up to the sharp pains coursing through her body, and finally collapsed after the pain faded away. She wondered if she and the guild, along with her newly made friend, Asuna Yuuki, would be able to defeat the boss as they hoped. Asuna reminded her so much of her sister, and it hurt her to know that their friendship wouldn't last much longer.

"I hope she doesn't grieve too much for me." Yuuki said to no one in particular. She had quickly grown to enjoying having her around, and hoped that they could achieve their goal before her passing.

Yuuki had AIDS. When she was a baby, there was an accident and she lost a lot of blood. The blood the doctors had given her to replace the lost was infected with the HIV virus, which caused her to develop the AIDS. The doctors said that she didn't have much longer to live, so she hoped that they could achieve their goal before the end.

Asuna

Asuna stood outside of the train station waiting for her boyfriend, Kazuto Kirigaya aka Kirito or the Black Swordsman, to arrive for their date. They had planned on having a picnic lunch, then they would be going to see the new romance movie that had just come out.

'Where is he?' She thought, as she checked her phone seeing that he was five minutes late. Suddenly she noticed Kazuto walking towards her from her left.

"I'm sorry for running a bit late. I ran into a guy on my way here who was lost, so I told him where he was needing to go." Kazuto said as he approached his chestnut haired girlfriend.

"It's OK. You're only five minutes late as it is, so it's fine. You want to head on over to the park?" Asuna replied, holding up the picnic basket that held their lunch.

"Yeah, let's go." Kazuto replied. The young couple made their way to the park in the center of Tokyo, inquiring on how each others day had been so far.

"So, do you think Yuuki and the others in her guild are ready to take on the boss?" Kazuto asked, taking a breath after inhaling his sandwich.

"Yes, I do. They work really well together, so I believe that we can take the boss together." Asuna replied, setting her own sandwich down. "I just hope that we can beat the boss before, you know, the time comes."

"Yeah. All we can do is hope though, right?" Kazuto asked.

"Yeah. By the way, you said that you had to give a guy directions before we met up. Was he a foreigner?" Asuna inquired.

"Yeah, he definitely wasn't Japanese. American, if I had to guess." Kazuto answered. " He looked like he was our age to be completely honest."

"Perhaps an exchange student?" Asuna asked.

"Maybe. He wouldn't be going to our school if he was. It's only for the SAO survivors." Kazuto replied. They quickly packed up the remnants of their lunch, then proceeded to the movie theater. As they approached their destination, Kazuto noticed the guy he had helped earlier admiring the posters of the films that were currently being shown.

"Hey, that's the guy I gave directions to earlier." Kazuto said, pointing towards the young man. What they didn't realize was that upon meeting this young man, their lives would be taking an unexpected turn.
