Business Trip

A/N: This is another HSM drabble-y ficlet. This is one of my longer ones. I think I might have to amend my definition for these from 300 words or under to 500 words and under, not that that makes much of a difference, I just think some of my more recent ones turned out longer. Here it is, Enjoy. R&R! Thanks! –Mac

Disclaimer: I don't own HSM.

Business Trip

"Mommy, when is Daddy coming home?" Six year old Alyssa asked as she climbed into bed and her mother tucked her in.

Gabriella sighed and pushed some of her daughter's dark hair out of her eyes, "He'll be back in a couple days, sweetie. I know you miss him, Mommy does too."

Alyssa's lip pouted out, "Goodnight Mommy."

"Goodnight, baby."

Gabriella kissed her daughter's forehead and clicked off the bedside lamp. Then she wandered out into their living room. With one hand on her pregnant belly, she began to clean up Alyssa's toys. Every movement was punctuated by a heavy sigh. Gabriella hated when her husband was away on business trips. I was even worse this time because she was nearing the end of the pregnancy, her hormones were raging, and she was overly emotional.

It wasn't until she was putting away the last of the toys that she heard it. She thought she had imagined the sound of the key in the lock until the door swung open. Gabriella straightened up and a broad smile broke out on her lips. "Troy!"

"Hey Brie." Troy grinned as he walked in, closing the door and dropping his luggage as he went.

Gabriella wrapped her arms around him and kissed him, "What are you doing home so early? I thought it was going to be a couple more days?"

"I used my excellent skills of persuasion to persuade the client to close the deal in considerably less time than management predicted." Troy said.

"I don't even care." Gabriella responded, "I'm just glad you're home."

"Yeah well my sob story about my very pregnant wife and baby girl being all alone back home didn't hurt either."
