OUAT Landcom Little Red Childhood Fic Challenge

For the sake of this challenge a child is 12 and under years of age
May include other characters, but must focus on one
You may write about Henry, too, but it must be from before he received the book
It must be a character we have already seen in the show!

Young Ella is allowed few joys in her life, so she savors each one...
The large house was quiet in the dark evening. Ella's Stepmother and Stepsisters were ensconced in the large dining room feasting on roast pig, buttery potatoes, and fresh greens. Ella herself had helped to prepare the scrumptious meal, but was not allowed to partake. It had been that way since her father died the year before.
The cook was kind, and pretended to look the other way as the neglected ten-year-old pocketed some bread, cheese, and an apple.
"Go on, Miss Ella, I can handle the washing up alone," the old woman said, shooing the girl toward the back door.
Ella grinned and grabbed her cloak on the way out.
She hurried through the grounds, scrambled over the old wooden fence and up the hill. At the top, she spread her cloak on the ground and settled down to wait.
It was the best view in the kingdom. The castle looked monolithic on the horizon, and the night sky spread out wide and unobstructed in front of her. It was dark, the only light coming from the moon, stars and the occasional firefly. It wouldn't be dark for long though.
Ella munched on her 'dinner' while she waited. She didn't have to wait long. For today was the prince's eleventh birthday and the girl was unable to hold back a laugh of delight at the first booming stream of colorful fire that lit up the night sky.
For a little while Ella was able to forget her troubles, and pretend that the incredible show was for her. Perhaps one day, it really would be...
