Jess was driving away from Stars Hollow listening to the radio. This was the second time he had left Rory and this time he said he loved her. What was he thinking?
Jess wanted to drive faster but he knew it wouldn't help any if he got into an accident so he just stayed at 65 mph. He had only been driving for about ten minutes when a song he hadn't heard before came on.
It was a little girly for his taste but all he knew was it applied to him.

Jess was just thinking over and over "I screwed up so bad." Jess was just thinking of how she probably hates him. The only problem was no matter how much she hated him, he would always love her.

RORY: I thought you said you were gonna give Jess a chance.
LORELAI: I am.
RORY: Then why don't you hire him?
LORELAI: I'm just not very comfortable with him, Rory.
RORY: Well, try and get comfortable.
LORELAI: Well, I don't know if I can.
RORY: But you said - .
LORELAI: I know what I said, but I can't help it.
RORY: How many times do I have to tell you – .
LORELAI: That I don't know the real Jess?
RORY: You don't.
LORELAI: Well, fine, I don't know him, but I'm not too fond of his stand in.
RORY: People are different once you get to know them. If you'll remember, you weren't too fond of Luke when you first met him.
Flashback ended
Jess smiled. They didn't know he was there and he heard everything they said. She didn't even know him and she stuck up for him.

At this time Jess knew what he had to do. He turned down the road and started going faster.

He was so close he passed the sign and started slowing down. He walked to the place he knew she would be. The bridge. Here he was spending his life trying to get out of this town and now when he could, he figured out it wasn't what he wanted.
I love you. He turned around to meet the voice and was met by bright blue eyes. Before he could respond they were kissing and he said I love you over and over. This time he would stay for good.
