Prologue
The moon shone bright as a grey-tan wolf ran through the mountains. A pup was dangling from the wolf's jaws, fast asleep as the she-wolf ran faster through the mountains, hoping nothing would see her. At that moment, a group of mountain cats appeared from the darkness. One of them, a gray-brown she-cat, stepped forward from the other 3 cats. "How dare you tresspass on Tribe of Rushing Water's land!" The she-cat hissed. The wolf put down her pup stifled a worrying moan. "I mean no harm! I only wish to get me and my pup safely through the mountains!" She barked. The she-cat wasn't convinced. "Liar! I'll bet you're just trying-" She was interrupted by a long-limbed black tom who padded beside her. "Now, now, Bird. If the creature wishes no harm, let it be." The tom mewed softly to Bird, who let out a hiss. "Stormfur! Whoever-or should I say whatever- this creature is, don't you think it could be trying the steal prey, or maybe even attack us?"
Stormfur let out an annoyed sigh. "And who did Stoneteller put in charge of the investigation, Bird?" He asked amuseingly. Bird let out an annoyed groan. "You, Stormfur." She admitted, apparently annoyed. Stormfur stepped forward in front of the wolf. "Whoever or whatever you are, I kindly ask you to leave the mountains. I believe you are no threat, if you are just passing by, but if any of the Tribe cats find you or a fresh scent in the mountains by sunhigh, you and your kit will be stalked and killed. Is that clear?" The wolf, who was now trembling in fear, nodded. "Y-Yes, of course. Thank-you." She replied. Stormfur nodded.
"Now, please leave. Bird, Swoop, Talon, let's go back and tell Stoneteller that this creature claimed to be no threat to us." Stormfur mewed as he signaled his tail for the group to leave. The wolf quickly ran away.

As Stormfur and the other cats arrived back at the camp, Stoneteller emerged from his cave. "What did you find out?" He asked seriously as he padded towards Stormfur, who twitched his whiskers. "She was an unidentified creature, claiming she was no threat and was just passing by. The creature had her kit with it." Stormfur reported. Stoneteller growled. "And you let the creature get away? Stormfur!" He hissed. Stormfur sighed. "I told her that if her scent and herself were not gone by sunhigh, we would stalk them and kill them both." He mewed, hoping it would make Stoneteller feel more confident.
Stoneteller calmed and sat on the ground. "Very well. I will send another group- including you- at sunhigh to see if the creature is still here. If she is, you will find and kill her immediately. If not, you will return." He ordered to Stormfur, loud enough so the other cats could hear. Bird, who was nearby eating a blackbird, let out an annoyed hiss. "Whatever..." She muttered. Stoneteller ignored her and turned back to Stormfur. "Where was the wolf heading?" He asked. Stormfur flicked his tail.
"She was heading towards the lake, where the Clans live."
