I was bored and this idea came to me, about what if Nightstar and Blackstar had been friends once. The lyrics are from Linkin Park's Place For My Head. Not my best work, but it's one of the few one-shots of mine without a pairing xo
I watch how the moon sits in the sky
On a dark night shining with the light from the sun
"What do you think you were doing out there?! You could have gotten yourself killed!"
And the sun doesn't give light to the moon
Assuming the moon's going to owe it one
Blackfoot's eyes narrowed. "I turned the battle around, that's what I did." His tail twitched angrily. "ShadowClan was losing."
It makes me think of how you act to me
You do favors and then rapidly
"That tom would have ripped your head off if I hadn't grabbed you, you idiot! You should be thankful!"
You just turn around and start asking me about
Things you want back from me
Blackfoot glared at him. "Do you think it's funny to play deputy?! This isn't a game, Nightpelt."
I'm sick of the tension, sick of the hunger
Sick of you acting like I owe you this
"I never said it was," The black tom spat. "Pay more attention next time. You're a fool if you think you can turn a battle around. All you did was put your life in danger."
Find another place to feed your greed
While I find a place to rest
Blackfoot hissed. "What's wrong with you? I saved the life of that idiot apprentice. That piece of ThunderClan fox dung nearly killed him."
I want to be in another place
I hate when you say you don't understand
"You should leave them to fight their own battles," Nightpelt snarled. "How can we raise strong apprentices if they can't learn from their mistakes?!"
You'll see it's not meant to be
I want to be in the energy, not with the enemy
"Not in this battle, Nightpelt." Blackfoot twitched his tail angrily. "That's almost all of ThunderClan out there. We send apprentices out there, they'll come back with missing limbs!"
A place for my head
Nightpelt glared at him. "Watch yourself, Blackfoot," He growled as he backed out of the undergrowth. "Next time I won't be there to save you."
Maybe someday I'll be just like you, and
Step on people like you do and
Run away the people I thought I knew
"Nightpaw!"
I remember back then who you were
You used to be calm, used to be strong
"Blackkit," The apprentice said with surprise. "What are you doing out of the camp?"
The black kitten shook himself eagerly. "I wanted to explore," he announced excitedly.
Nightpaw laughed. "I won't tell Raggedstar, but promise me you'll be careful, okay?"
Blackkit nodded happily. "I'll be an apprentice soon," he pointed out. "Then we'll be able to train together, right?"
Nightpaw grinned. "Maybe," He replied.
Used to be generous, but you should have known
That you'd wear out your welcome
Blackfoot plunged back into battle, his ears back and his eyes narrowed.
But he caught sight of a certain black cat facing Bluestar in the middle of the clearing.
He turned and tackled a ThunderClan tom.
Now you see how quiet it is all alone.
Leaving Nightpelt to fight his own battle.
