"What does it mean to love someone?"
"Love is complicated."
"It doesn't have to be. What does it mean to you to love someone? What is your definition of love?"
"You cannot contain love to a definition. There is the idea of love, the definition that you seek and the there is the feeling of love."
"Who do you love?"
"The list is long."
"Parker?"
"Of course."
"Your parents?"
"Yes."
"Me?"
"Yes. But the love is different for each, the type of love is different."
"Give me an example."
"The love I have for Parker is that of a father to a child. IT is hard to explain a parents love for a child. It is all encompassing, as if my love for him alone could guide him through life. My love for my parents is different. I am the child and they are the providers. I love them for how they helped shape me and for who they are. They're different, but the same, if that makes any sense."
"I think I understand. I love my father and brother differently. What about your love for me?"
"My love for you was built out of respect, respect for what you have dedicated your life to and how well you do that job."
"You love me because I am successful?"
"Well…yeah, but it has more to do with the drive and honesty you put into everything you do, and your success comes from that."
"Is that all the love that you have for me?"
"Do you want to hear the whole partners spiel?"
"No. Just partners. I've heard it many times before."
"Not just partners. Between us, that trivializes what we are."
"And what are we exactly?"
"What are we now or what will we be?"
"They are different?"
"Yes."
"What are we now?"
"We have a very special relationship. Yeah we're partners and friends, but we are more that that."
"We have a strong emotional connection."
"Yes. I trust you implicitly. We depend on each other in the work place and for safety in dangerous situations. We confide in each other. I'm closer to you then…we are really close."
"What will we be?"
"That's hard to say. I can't predict the future but we will probably continue to get closer. Our relationship will continue to evolve."
"It is logical to think we will continue to evolve."
"Love is not logical."
"Maybe that's why I have not experienced it. Not romantic love that is."
"You've never loved?"
"I have felt love and lust, but I have never been in love. I don't even know what it means to be in love."
"You'll find it some day. I promise."
