Inoue Orihime, Ishida muses, reminds him of cupcakes.
This line of thinking is new to him, for Ishida has never been the type to indulge in romantic emotions and if he's honest with himself, he doesn't know why he's started now. Really.
Nevertheless, Inoue-san reminds him … of cupcakes.
Like cupcakes, a certain set of circumstances have come together in the mixing bowl of Karakura to mold her character.
It's the way that hardship, and the heat of danger have forged her personality so that instead of breaking apart, she bounces back when pressed.
It's the way she's so perfectly shaped, the way every molecule of her being has been formed.
Like cupcakes, it's the delicate scent of her skin, a complex yet subtle play of flavours that is uniquely hers.
It's in the way she tastes, the same familiar sugary sweetness on his tongue, yet something he can't get enough of.
It's the brightness of her hair, enough to rival any icing on any cupcake.
Ishida has never liked sweet treats. Too much of a good thing is bad, and the sugar is cloying in his mouth. Only now, he finds it mildly embarrassing that he can't get enough of his favourite sweet.
He reckons Inoue-san would get a kick out of knowing it.
