Pit-pat, pit-pat
…
Sigh.
He stands up, his umbrella next to him. Walking out of the cover that Ichiraku Ramen provides for him from the rain, Uchiha Sasuke groans and walks slowly.
Bump!
"I'm sorry mister!" A little girl bows in front of him. Pink hair.
"It's okay," he says, walking around the bowing girl.
He feels the girl turn around behind him, and he frowns, his neck craning to stare at the young girl. "Are you sure it's all okay?"
He sighs, and before he responds, the mother of the girl is running towards them and biding him sorry. Sasuke smirks a bit when he sees the girl protests to be let go of, and then he begins to walk again.
It's a long walk to the Uchiha Mansion, but the raven haired man doesn't mind. He likes the loneliness of the walk to the deserted area of Konoha, so he doesn't mind. He enjoys knowing that there's no one following him, so he doesn't mind.
Before reaching the mansion, he stops, and picks up a small, white flower, and keeps sauntering up the hill until he sees the roof of his old house. At the front door, he puts down the flower and lets the umbrella fall next to him.
"Sasuke-kun!"
Huh?
Turning around, he eyes pink hair, and when he smiles, he feels something – or someone – move behind him, and he opens the door of the house and there's no one. It's only dark and silent and he frowns at this because maybe, just maybe, there could have been someone.
"I'm sorry, Sasuke-kun!" The pink haired girl smiles, and hugs him for a moment, and then her eyebrows pin together. "What's wrong?" She asks carefully, eyeing the opened door and the umbrella on the floor. "Sasuke?"
"I –" He starts and then closes his mouth. What was wrong? "I'm not sure," he sighs, looking at her.
Her head cocks to the side and she gives him a warm smile. "I see," she mutters. "Did you pick up that flower for your mother?"
Sasuke looks down at the flower and then nods.
"I'm sure she's happy for you, Sasuke-kun."
Sasuke is going to tell her, yell at Sakura, "I like you." He was. He thought of it. The words were going to roll out of his tongue when he felt a crash inside the house.
"Did something fall?" Sakura gasped out, stepping inside the mansion and looking around.
Sasuke walks inside the house along the pink haired woman and they both turn to the kitchen to find a broken vase and flowers on the floor. They both look confused at each other and Sakura shrugs, going to pick up the pieces of glass after putting her umbrella on the floor.
"I wonder who put these flowers here," the Uchiha whispered, crouching to pick up the flowers.
"What if it was Itachi?" Sakura said jokingly, and Sasuke glowered at her. "Sorry," she mumbled, pouting. "But it might've been him!" She says, trying to lighten up the mood. Sasuke's brows furrowed. "My mom believed in ghosts and I grew up believing in them – it could be possible."
And when he's going to tell her that she's acting annoying, he feels a dark figure glooming behind him, and Uchiha Sasuke turns around and for a second he sees his brother and mother and father smiling at him.
"Sasuke-kun?" Asks Sakura, worried.
And Uchiha Sasuke smiles, and turns to face the pink haired girl besides him, and the words come out – finally.
"Sakura."
"Huh?"
"Thank you," he says instead.
"For what?" She asks, confused.
"For everything," he breathes out, and she gasps, because she knows already what he means.
