Chapter 1: The Dream

Hungry. I'm so hungry. Why am I so hungry? I curled up on my bed as the stomach cramp got worse. Whimpering in pain as another, more painful cramp passed through, I clenched my hand tightly on my wrinkled bedsheets. I was in so much pain, but I didn't understand why. My throat felt like it was burning, my lips were dry, and I felt like some invisible string was tugging at my teeth that I could even close my mouth. All I could think about was the unbearable pain and hunger I felt coursing through my trembling body.

Hungry, hungry, I'm so hun- what's that smell? Where is that smell coming from? I slowly got up from my bed, grimacing at every step I took and began to walk towards the door. When I left my bedroom, I follow the intoxicating scent and desperately clutch my throat in need. I leaned against the wall for support as I dragged myself to where this scent was. The burning sensation in throat was increasing and I started to scratch my throat harshly to relieve some of the pain. Following the smell, I slowly went down the stairs to the basement.

Close. I'm so close. Closer to the scent that I crave. The elevator doors finally opened and all I saw was darkness. It was so dark that I couldn't see anything in front me not even my own hand and I could no longer smell that scent. What happened to it? Where did it go?

"Hello Robin. You have grown into a fine young man." A mysterious, deep voice said.

"Who are you? Where am I?" I asked, spinning around in the darkness trying to determine where the man was.

"Who am I? You will find out soon enough." he said, calmly.

"What's wrong with me?" I asked, frustrated.

"Nothing is wrong with you."

"What do you mea-OW!" I yelped in pain as a feeling of being punched in the stomach suddenly appeared and I crashed to the floor. Hearing hurried footsteps coming towards me, I curled up in a fetal position. I felt so weak that I couldn't even crawl away as the stranger knelt down next to me and pushed my damp hair out of my face.

"It's alright, everything is going to fine." The stranger assured me.

"I-I'm hu-hungry."

The mysterious exhaled quietly. "I know little one, I know, it would go away soon."

"Please, please, please. I can't take it anymore, it hurts." I wanted to claw out my throat, I wanted to dig into my flesh and rip it out, only to make the pain go away.

"I'm sorry, but I can't take it away." He said, sadly.

I wailed as I turned my body towards the man, bringing my hands up to clasp onto his shirt tightly. I couldn't see who he was, but I needed him.

"Help me, I'm begging you, make it stop! Make it sto-" I was so close to him that I was able to inhale his scent. He smelled safe, strong and…familiar? I crawled onto his lap, sniffing his chest then moving higher until my face was deep into neck.

"Hungry." I whispered.

"I know, but you need to be patient." He said as held me in his arms.

I whined softly as another wave of pain went through me.

"It's okay, the pain will go away soon."

I nodded gently unable to speak. I tired myself out from all the crying and I just rested against the unknown yet very familiar man. Who is he? Why do I feel so safe around him? I curled up more tightly on his lap and his arm held me even tighter, comforting me. My eyes slowly began to close and the last thing I heard was:

"I promise you will find out everything soon, my son."

BEEP, BEEP, BEEP

I gasped and almost fell out of bed in shock after the dream I had. My body was covered in sweat, my feet were snarled up by the covers and when I touched my throat I hissed in pain. Rushing to the bathroom, I turned on the light and faced the mirror and saw small red half-moon indentations all over my throat, some even had dried blood surrounding them but most were beginning to turn a dark purple.

Why did that dream feel so real?

What's going to happen to me?

Why did that stranger call me his son?
