Warnings: None... In this story.

Sheppard faced the window. It was still dark out, the occasional flash of lightning lighting up his pitch black room. He didn't know why he had run to his room once the storm started. But he had.

He and Teyla had been in the middle of a conversation he was enjoying very much, then it thundered. He first started to get jumpy, then finally excused himself. Probably rudely, if he was remembering correctly. He needed to go apologize to her for that. But not now. After the storm. After the last bolt of lightning flashed across the sky.

And that could be anytime.

He crossed his arms as thee was another loud clap of thunder, following by fork lightning.

John usually wasn't scared of storms. He loved storms! When he was very little, whenever it would storm, he would run to the window to watch, while David crawled under a bed.

His radio buzzed to life then, making him jump about twenty feet in the air.

"Colonel Sheppard?"

Teyla.

"Hey, Teyla." He tried to keep his voice light. "What do you need?"

"Would you like some company, John?"

"Um..." John was about to refuse, then shook his head. He needed company. He needed someone to talk to right now. "Yeah. Could you come down?"

"I'm on my way." He could hear the smile in Teyla's voice and sighed, trying to calm himself as he commanded the lights to turn back on.

He ran a hand through his hair and sat down on the bed, just as the chimes announcing Teyla was there rang. He commanded the doors to open and forced a smile on his face as she entered.

"John, are you feeling okay?" The smile she had been wearing faded to a frown, and she quickly hurried over, sitting beside him on the bed.

"Yeah. Why?"

"You do not look well at all..." Teyla bit her lip, placing the back of her hand against his cheek. "And you are warm. Ar you sick?"

John frowned as well. Honestly, he was feeling fine, just a little shaky. "I'm good, Teyla. Just... The storm is making me nervous."

"I did not know you were afraid of storms."

"I didn't either."

Teyla looked confused.

"Look, Teyla, I don't know what's wrong. I just..." He took a deep breath. "The storm got to me, that's all. Made me think about how close we've come to losing one another without... Without knowing how we feel about each other..."

"Like friends?"

"Well, Teyla, there's the thing..." John gave an awkward laugh. "I like you as more than a friend."

Teyla didn't move at first, then her smile grew as well. "I was hoping you'd say that, John."

"You were?"

Teyla laughed, the noise like music to his ears. "Yes. Because, I like you too, John."

John grinned, and, commanding the lights to go out once more, took her in his arms.
