Tom let out a bittersweet laugh at the joke he had just heard from his boyfriend's brother.
"Unbelievable…" He said, mostly to himself, with a chuckle and glanced at the annoyed look on Sam's face.
He felt his cheeks a bit heated — he had blushed a little, of course. He had just been caught off guard kissing his boyfriend rather passionately and now they were being thrown inappropriate comments at, like 'Get a room!' and — he could not deny — they were pretty funny, but he knew Sam wasn't comfortable with the way his big brother was putting sex in.
The taller man cleared his throat and rolled his eyes. "Okay, okay. Very funny," He replied, a bit coldly.
He watched as Paul stepped closer to Sam and patted his back, laughing hysterically at his own humor. "I'm sorry, little bro. Just ignore me and keep sucking on your boyfriend's face."
Tom knew the guy wasn't trying to be rude or to make Sam truly angry, but he was seriously pissing the younger man off — he could see it.
"Alright. Uh, this was… nice, but we should go back to the hotel before it's too late," The composer said (before things could turn pretty ugly) and then turned to his boyfriend. "C'mon, Sam. Let's go."
The shorter male was about to get going when he heard his brother say, "Fuck him extra hard for me when you get there!"
And, before Paul's wife could silence him, or Tom stop his boyfriend, Sam moved closer to him quickly, grabbed him by the collar of his polo shirt, and everything grew quiet for a moment.
His fist was clenched,
right underneath his older brother's chin.
But there was no violence. No punching at all.
He just lowered his arm and let go of the collar on his brother's shirt slowly, with compassion.
"You know what?" He finally said, breaking the silence and tension. "I won't do this. But, next time you disrespect my boyfriend that way, I won't be so forgiving."
And with that, he just walked away. He took Tom's hand in his own, and walked away, without a single word.
"W-what was that?" Was all Tom managed to say — well, mumble — as they headed back to their hotel, still in shock.
"That was me, not letting anyone dishonor my loved one." He replied proudly.
The word 'love' took Tom a little by surprise, but he just let a content smile form on his lips and squeezed the man's hand gently, keeping on walking. He knew very well what Sam's definition of 'honor' was and how much it meant to him. And — even though sex had always been just sex to him — he found it really sweet.
