I recently became determined to write a drabble. As a writer of epic fanfiction, I have always had respect for writers who can do drabbles, but the skill elludes me. What I ended up with was a body of ficlets mostly too long for drabble-length but shorter than even the usual length of my rare short fics. Some are connected to my Rediscovered Hearts AU and some are just random. So I'm just going to post each one separately because there's no rhyme or reason to them so it doesn't make sense to do a "collection".

The Boyfriend Issue

Vala has told him for years that the true test of any father's mettle is not his willingness to clean up vomit, drive a car full of twelve-year-old girls to the mall, discuss the birds and the bees, or run to the drugstore in the middle of the night to buy maxi pads. The true litmus test for modern fathers is their reaction to the boyfriend issue. Daniel likes to think of himself as an open minded, liberated parent. He is not above taking on carloads of pre-teen girls. He can quell the urge to pull his coat up over his head on a midnight pad run. The birds and the bees discussion went fairly well, for the most part. There was no passing out, and Vala only laughed once. He's never shied away from cleaning up puke. So far, though, he has been lucky. There hasn't been a boyfriend. He knows there will be though. Someday when he least expects it. That's why he carries a zat.
