"Hiashi, don't pretend," I sighed, staring at him with half-open eyes. "I'm only doing this because I care about you."
"I don't think you would get involved if you cared, to be honest." Things like that were the things I hated about him. The blunt tone in his voice, his fear of showing any emotions and the way he responded to friendly things. He didn't allow himself any friends, any help. People never even stopped to think; is he being selfish or selfless? Too selfless is the answer. He didn't trust himself at all after what happened with his brother.
"Please... just let me help you." To see him like this, in pieces because of how bad things were going for him was heartbreaking. He couldn't take care of himself or his kids because the debts he had owed to other clans for borrowing money. I hated to see him try to hide his emotions. "You can cry, Hiashi. It's alright. I'm the only one here."
Opening his eyes, he began to cry. In response, I wrapped my arms around him, sharing his tears. "Why should I accept help for nothing?"
"Because I know you need it, Hiashi. And I want to provide what you need."
