The gems were getting ready for the first Crystal Tribunal they have had since Steven was born and they were setting up decorations around the area and Pearl was being a bit bossy.
"Amethyst that totem has to be symmetrical! UGH I'll do it myself!" Pearl walks over and positions the totem the way she wants it to be.
Steven runs in with his ukulele and jams it like its an electrical guitar and shouts "ARE YOU READY CRYSTAL TRIBUNAAAAAALLLL!"
Amethyst snickers and Pearl immediately shushes them both "This is supposed to be a calm ritual that brings out the true powers of you're gem. As soon as Pearl says those words Steven gets stars in his eyes. "Will I get any new powers?" he asks. "You could." Pearl replies
"Okay everything is set up Pearl" Garnet says and they all sit in a half lotus position and Steven starts chanting "Ommmmmmmmm" but Garnet motions that he doesn't have to do that.
"Now Steven," Pearl starts and the young gem looks at him, "You will go into a small trance, it will be you going into your into gem unlocking you're true power. Don't be afraid okay?" Pearl noticing Garnet and Amethyst had gone into their trances already starts to chuckle. "Looks like they started without us. Lets go shall we?" And Pearl starts to sit.
"Opamge muaklde kekide uj ad" utters Pearl incoherently.
Steven looks at her questionly. Pearl begins to stand up and that's when Steven notices Pearl's eyes are blank and a black liquid is leaking down. "P-Pearl are you okay?" he asks. Pearl pulls out a dagger from her gem and walks with no emotion towards the boy. The young gem cries out and summons his shield just as Pearl brings the dagger down. "PEARL WHATS HAPPENING TO YOU! GARNET! AMETHYST! SOMETHINGS WRONG WITH PEARL!" he cries out to his family but they are still in their trance, its no use. Pearl summons a spear out of her gem and aims it for him. Steven can't hold um the shield much longer. Steven has one last thing he can try but its daring and it will take the last of his energy. If hes lucky, it will keep Pearl busy long enough for Garnet and Amethyst to be finished and help him out. Steven Summons a rose bubble around Pearl to trap her. Steven isn't good at this because the gem is on HIM. If he keeps it on someone else, it takes up a lot of his energy. Steven gasps and falls to his knees as the crazed Pearl stabs at the bubble, more black liquid pooling down her face. After five more minutes, Garnet and Amethyst return in unison and they notice the situation. Amethyst looks confused and Garnet nearly splits in two.
Garnet runs over to Steven to check on him and sees that Pearl had not landed any hits and that none of the black liquid had touched him. "Steven I am sorry to say but Pearl has become very sick."
Steven looks like he is about to be in tears "W-WHAT! But-but I thought gems couldn't get sick!"
Garnet unsummons her shades revealing tears in her three eyes "There is one illness a gem can get. It is called. The Obsidian Virus."
