Background Information
Gwen and Owen are twins - Children of Apollo - Gwen can control sound and music through her voice. Owen can control light with his hands, and is good with a guitar
They were raised by their mom (Amanda) in a small town by the beach in Maine called Chamberlain.
They went to Camp Half Blood when they were 13. They were able to stay off of most monsters scent because most of the people in the town they lived in were or were somehow related to demigods so they helped to protect them and they were home-schooled so there was very little opportunities for them to meet strangers. Unlike most demigod children, their mom told them everything about their dad when they were just 5 years old. They are both very smart for their age and were about two grade levels above normal. They spent almost every Friday evening at the local cafe performing original songs.
Gwen is very artistic and she loves math and science. She has a beautiful voice that she can use almost like charmspeak or to put people in trances like a siren. Owen is more musical and interested in reading and writing. Owen often writes music and songs that he plays while Gwen sings.
Gwen and Owen had almost no friends in Chamberlain due to the fact that there were only two other kids in the town that were even close to their age and they were two full years older. Most of the other kids in town were 3 years younger at least so they were often hired as babysitters. The two older children were Jess and Matthew. Jess acted as a sort of older sister to the younger kids, though Gwen and Owen never truly saw her that way because she and her family were the only true mortals in town and they didn't want to accidentally put her in danger. Matthew was there next door neighbor. He was a grandson of Hades and Demeter, his parents being an unlikely match. He was emo but he also had a green thumb and loved gardening. He didn't have any real powers, but he made up for it in being downright scary. The only other kid in town he would talk to besides hi little brother, Charlie, was Owen. Owen looked up to Matthew and had a crush on him from ages 11-12. In fact, that was how Owen realized he was gay.
Gwen was the only one who knew about Owen's sexuality by default and she often comforted her brother when he was feeling confused or depressed. Owen did't come out to Amanda until he was 14 and had been at Camp Half Blood for over a year.
The twins stayed at CHB all year because a group of monsters were coming back to Chamberlain annually and attacking young demigods.
Have been using/practicing powers since 12th birthday (that's when their mom told them they HAD powers)
