I crashed on my bed as soon as I got into my room, but instead of falling asleep from the exhausting day, I lay awake thinking about … Annabeth. Annabeth Chase. Ms. Chase. Ms. Annabeth Chase.
I flipped over onto my left side before continuing my Annabeth slideshow. Sighing inwardly I remembered when she kissed me in the labyrinth so long ago. I shut my eyes tighter replaying the moment a thousand times over.
"Percy… Percy."
"Hmm," I mumbled still dreaming of that fateful day in the labyrinth.
"Seaweed brain, get up!" Annabeth exclaimed as a sudden stream of stickiness fell on my face.
"Honey! You put honey on my face."
"You're invincible so I can't hit you and you're a son of Poseidon so water is ruled out."
"I would have pretended to be hurt if you hit me."
"Oh, ha, ha," Annabeth declared as she made herself comfortable on my bed.
I was suddenly hyper-aware of my situation. I was alone in a dark room with a girl I mutually shared more than platonic feelings with.
Annabeth leaned back on my pillow and turned to face me. Our faces were approximately four inches apart. She stared at me expecting me to do something. My breathing became labored as I leaned in closer. Annabeth laughed slightly, and my cheeks flushed red.
"What are you doing?"
"What am I doing? What are you doing?" I asked indignantly.
"Our first real kiss has to be more romantic."
I thought for a moment before I grabbed her hand and said, "Come on!" Dragging Annabeth out the door, I all but flew to the perfect spot for a kiss because if I did fly, Zeus would strike me out of the sky.
"Percy, where are we going?"
"You'll see," I replied with a smile.
The familiar scent of water filled my nose; the lapping of the waves calmed my nerves.
"This does not constitute as romantic in my books, Seaweed brain."
After I turned to smile at her, I gave Annabeth a light shove into the water. I went in right after and created an air bubble around us. I swam down until I reached a secluded cave that was dimly lit, but very comfortable. Placing both of my hands on either of Annabeth's cheeks, I slowly leaned in. Annabeth closed her eyes as my forehead touched her forehead.
"Romantic enough for you?"
The last thing I heard was Annabeth's adorable laugh before my lips crashed onto hers.
And it was pretty much the best underwater kiss of all time.
