A Love Story For The Skipper
The Captain, Jonas Grumby, or as he wanted to be called the Skipper was only 35 years old. All the others had someone. Ginger and Roy Hinkley had married earlier, then a little later on, Gilligan and Mary Ann married. Before this had ever happened, a woman, who was an heiress, Miss Erica Tiffany Smyth had landed on the island, she was quite attracted to the Skipper, and he was attracted to her also. She had promised before she left the island
"I'll tell them all about you wonderful people."
But time passed and passed and they almost had forgotten about her. The Skipper would fantasize about Erica being his wife, and two or three children running around the island, one of them, the spit and image of his handsome father, with blond hair and blue eyes. One morning, the Skipper and Gilligan were fishing and talking about the day when a beautiful boat came right to the island, the anchor, thrown out and the gangplank lowered. To their complete surprise, Erica Tiffany Smyth walked down the gangplank.
"I told you I would be back darling! I lost the way here but Henry found the way after he found the piece of paper. I'm going to stay here because I loved it here the first time I saw this wonderful place."
"Oh Miss Smyth, I'm ever so glad to see you again."
The Skipper replied kissing her hand softly, Erica blushed and smiled and actually kissed his cheek. Later on after Ginger and Mary Ann cooked a huge meal, the eight of them talked.
"You won't believe the terrible things going on in the United States, the young men are being drafted to Vietnam, well all over the world they are being drafted there. Everything is so terrible that I think I'll stay here forever. Just leaving to buy food and supplies for all of my friends here on this paradise of an island."
Later on that evening, the Skipper held Erica's hand and asked her
"I don't want to sound too brash , but may I call you Erica?"
"Why yes darling and I'll call you Jonas okay?"
The two of them began dating and after about a year, he proposed to her. By then, Mary Ann had given birth to a baby boy they named William Gilligan the second and soon after Ginger gave birth to a baby girl they named Jennifer Renee Hinkley. Since the Skipper was the only one that could marry anyone, they had to use the receiver from the boat that Erica had to call a priest. He married the two of them on August 15.
The newly married couple moved into their very own hut built lovingly by Roy and Gilligan. One year later, Erica, who was only 36, gave birth to a handsome baby boy, they named him Jonas Daniel Grumby the second. The Skipper's wish had finally came true, he was happy and they lived happily ever after together with the rest of the lucky castaways on their island paradise.
