Celice walked slowly across the wet boards of the dock. The sky was grey and filled with mean looking clouds. The ocean was tossing and turning. Waves were crashing against the beach. The wind threatened to take him into the deadly waves. Ahead of him was Danielle. She was frozen looking out at the ocean. You could barely see the lighthouse through the rain.

"Danielle!" He called out but his voice was lost in the storm.

Why was he even out here? What provoked him into confiding in this stranger he just met. It was weird how things turned out as if they were meant to happen. This girl was meant to wash away his sorrow.

Celice was beside her now. She hadn't noticed he was there or she didn't care. She was probably thinking of her beloved. She looked as though she was crying but who could tell with the rain.

"Danielle." He said again grabbing her arm. She slowly turned to him.

"We would come here….this was our spot." Her voice was drowning in grief.

He stared into her eyes. He didn't care if she was a stranger. She needed him. He pulled her into an embrace and held her close. She didn't resist. His protective instinct was to stroke her hair and to make her feel safe.

"Everything will be ok." He whispered into her ear. His chest was pounding. She was very beautiful. Her tan skin was flawless. Her hair was a dark blue just like his. It wasn't the physical beauty that drew him to her. It was the need to protect. He felt the need to care for the broken hearted and the damaged. He knew what it felt like and he knew what they needed.

Suddenly the rain stopped and the waves calmed. It was all so beautiful. Was the storm even real?

"There's the sun." Celice pointed for Danielle.

She laughed quietly. That made Celice smile brightly. He wiped the tears from her eyes and summoned his sun minion. That really had them laughing.

"He will keep you warm better than my wet shaking body."

"Thank you, Celice." She leaned in and kissed him softly. It was warm.

He kissed her on the forehead and walked away.

"Will I see you again?" She called out.

"There is no doubt, Dani. Can I call you that?" He said with a sheepish grin. He beckoned for her to follow and she did with a huge smile.
