A/N: Inspired from a prompt picture at AllUnwritten http://community. Mommy!" 4-year-old Lily Messer squealed, pointing excitedly at the pond.
"Don't get to close, Lil," Lindsay warned, walking up behind her holding Danny's hand with one hand and a bag of bread to feed the ducks in the other.
"Daddy!" she squealed again, only this time with a whine too. She ran up to her daddy grabbed a hold of his hand, and tugged as hard as her 4-year-old body could.
"Whoa, take it easy," he said to his daughter. But her excitement about the pond made him smile.
When they got to the edge of the pond, Lily began pointing to the middle of the pond again.
"You ready to feed the duckies, Lil?" Lindsay asked coming up and kneeling next to her daughter.
But she wasn't paying any attention to her mother, she was focused on what she saw floating just a few feet away from the edge of the pond.
"Whatcha lookin' at?" Danny asked, kneeling down beside her as well.
"Feather," she said pointing to a single feather floating at the edge of the pond.
"You want Daddy to try to get it for you," he asked.
She gasped and squealed with excitement again, "Yeah!" She clapped happily.
Lindsay started giggling, "What's so funny, Montana?"
"You might end up falling in Danny," she said with as straight a face as she could.
"Montana, I'm an athlete, I'm not gonna fall in," he scoffed at her, "I hung off the side of Statue of Liberty without falling didn't I?" he rolled his eyes at her.
"You had a harness on, Danny" Lindsay said rolling her eyes at him.
He stood up, and took off his jacket, "My daughter wants that feather and Daddy is gonna get it for her," he said rolling up the sleeves on his sweater.
Lily giggled and clapped her hands, "Yeah, Daddy!!"
Lindsay sat down on the ground with her daughter, and watched as Danny knelt on the ground next to the pond and extended his arm out, until his fingers barely skimmed just a few inches away from the feather causing a ripple to make the feather drift just a few inches further away.
"Dammit," he cursed under his breath.
He pushed himself out just a few more inches.
"Daddy, be careful!" Lily squealed at just the wrong moment.
It startled him just enough to make him lose his balance and fall face first into the shallow pond.
"Daddy!" Lily squealed as Lindsay laughed.
Luckily he only fell in enough to soak just his shirt and face.
He came back to them, bent down on his knee and presented the prize he bobbed for.
"Daddy told you he would get it for his princess, didn't he?"
Lily launched herself at him, "Tank you Daddy! Love you!"
"Love you too, princess," he kissed her cheek getting her all wet in the process.
Lindsay smiled at him, and pulled him over to her.
"I knew I married you for a reason, cowboy," she kissed him, "You are a fantastic daddy, Dan."
"I love you too, Montana," he said before taking of his glasses and shaking his head like a dog.
His girls squealed in response.
