A New Day
By: Ashleigh E. Stewart
Today is a new day. I will not let yesterday's ghosts haunt me. They do not matter, and I am too busy rejoicing at the simple sight of a newly born sunrise.
Today is the day that I seek imperfection. And today is the day that I will smile at my mistakes. Today, I will learn that it is not by perfection that we advance, but by improvement that we succeed.
Today is the day that I take apart the puzzle pieces rather than stare at them linked together. Because today I will start over.
And by the nightfall of today I will know what there was to have known. I will have defeated the monster in my closet and the bully on the playground. I will have stood up for who I am and not have run away as a coward.
By nightfall I will have learned how to count the stars without losing track, because my blessings are what matter and not the spaces between them.
By nightfall I will have come to know this because . . .
Today is a new day.
