Absolution:

The sky is dark as always, even though its daytime. The flames, burning brighter than ever.

I scan over my horizon view to see nothing but darkness, ripped apart buildings and the flames. Those cursed Flames of Disaster that seem to destroy everything in their path.

Destruction and fighting back by the rebel forces prove pointless time after time.

Humans live in small refugee camps with little supplies.

This is the future.

What did we do to deserve this?

Does Solaris see as unfit individuals who only cause destruction, and this is his avenger?

A snake of living flame that erupts out of the flames interrupts my thoughts … and it's coming for me fast.

Psychic energy channels through my body and with a swift flick of my hand, a shockwave of psychic energy flows out.

I know though that this is nothing. Iblis seems to be immortal. He can come in any form, large or small, easy to defeat or hard to conquer.

All I can remember is fighting, being under suppression, being held back against our will. Human corpses litter the streets … and I am sick of seeing that flame.

I let got of the psychic energy flowing through me disappear for a small moment, allowing me to just drop.

I love the wind flowing against my body … it feels so natural.

I land on the ground to see someone that I find familiar. As I should. I was her friend when no one else would be.

"Blaze, what are you doing here?" I ask.

"Well, you did run out on the meeting and I was naturally worried about you. I knew you would be here," Blaze says and I can only smile. She knows me far to well by now.

We walk for a little bit, away from the ever-recharging flame, and sit on what was once the top of a casino. It is nothing but ash and small hints of metal now.

"Why do we have to put up with this? He is going to keep coming back and back unless we do something about it. I don't even know why we aligned with those humans. They do nothing but talk. No action," I say.

I am sure I see Blaze smirk a little, but shrug it off.

"You know why I like you Silver?" Blaze asks me. I feel my cheeks warm up, but just look into the flame.

"Not sure. Why do you?" I ask. My mum would have scolded me for being so cheeky around a lady, especially one as beautiful as Blaze.

… Wait, did I just think that?

"Because you can be stubborn and naïve. Those are two good qualities to have. Never lose them, no matter how old you grow," Blaze says, cutting my thought off. I hear her boots clack away, but don't go after her.

I fold my legs and begin another train of thought.

I wonder if this will all stop one day. If a day might come where people can walk in the streets without being afraid of creatures attacking them or losing another loved one … like that day my mum died.

That is why I fight. To avenge her.

But there is another reason why I fight.

I fight because want this world to be forgiven.

Every night, I dream of an absolution …

AUTHOR'S NOTES: In the newest Sonic game, Silver was introduced. I liked him as a character, even if he was a little bit immature, his 4Kids voice was horrible and he beared more than one passing resemblance to Omega Ranger from Power Rangers.

I thought it was somewhat unrealistic that it was only Blaze and Silver fighting for the future. I wanted to make the readers feel like Silver is at a loss and he is growing up to fast because of this. Responsibility is being thrust on him even if he doesn't want it.

I am either going to do a Knuckles one-shot, then a Shadow one-shot. Then I am finished with who I consider to be the main stars of the series. I might do some other one-shots after that, but not in such a huge number.

Feedback is always appreciated it.
