The Palace in the Trees
Once upon a time there lived two beautiful sisters. Flower was the oldest, with long, dark, sleek hair, which fell below her waist. Petal was her younger sister, and equally beautiful, and her fair blonde hair fell in curly ringlets around her shoulders. One sunny day Flower and Petal, decided to take a picnic into the forest; they set off up the lane, Flower carrying the basket of food, and Petal carrying the flask of orange juice and a rug to sit on. Not long after the girls had left, a handsome fairy prince rode past the house on his magical winged unicorn. The magical unicorn was called Starlet, and the fairy prince never went anywhere him. The prince saw the girls footprints in the dusty sand, and was curious to who they were, so he followed the footprints into the forest. Flower and Petal had just spread out the rug, and were about to start eating their picnic, when they heard the sound of wings above them. They looked up, and hovering above them was the fairy price on his unicorn. The girls were scared at first, but when they saw the kind face of the prince, they knew he wouldn't hurt them. The unicorn landed on the ground just beside Flower and Petal, and as he did so, his wings created a magical fairy dust, which covered the sisters, and made them sneeze. But after they had sneezed, they could feel their bodies becoming lighter, and soon they floating up into the air. The fairy prince laughed and said, "Don't worry, little ones, the fairy dust will take you to a magical place, just follow me." So for an hour, Flower and Petal flew with the fairy prince and his unicorn until they came to his secret palace hidden in the trees. Flower was worried that they would be late home, and their parents would start to worry, but the prince said that their parents were waiting for them in the palace. They were all going to live with him there. The prince's own family had left for a new home, so he needed a new family to live with him. So Flower and Petal, and their parents, all came to live with the fairy prince in the palace in the trees, and one day, Flower told herself, when she was older, she was going to marry the fairy prince, and Petal, when she was older, would marry the prince's younger brother who often came to stay with them. And so she knew that her family would all be happy, and live long, cheerful lives, living in the palace in the trees.
