"Where the hell did we get lost this time?" Dry Bowser sighed as he shook his head in a disgruntled manner, looking at a map he had.
"I dunno, a mine maybe?" Knuckles the Echidna said while eating an enchilada as he was leading his newfound friends through a cavern, thinking that they would find chunks of the shiny Master Emerald.
"Ooh golly whiskers, I wonder if there's any sparkly diamonds deep in here..." Toadette commented as she was wearing her treasure tracker uniform, showcasing her archivist skills as she was counting all the jagged rocks they were waking by while feeling a rumble in her stomach.
Dry Bowser took in a deep breath while brushing back his red hair. "Well this is just great."
Dry Bowser, Toadette, and Knuckles wouldn't normally find themselves to get lost due to both of them being experienced adventurers, but a mine was not exactly the type of place their of them had in mind. Especially since this was dark and grimy compared to the usual places they would run through.
"Do we have to go through this place?" Knuckles murmured as he was getting disappointed at punching the ground but finding now shards whatsoever.
Dry Bowser huffed as he folded his bony arms together, noticing the dust accumilating on his dusty bones. "Well you're the one who really wanted those gems, or whatever they are."
"Chaos emeralds and yes. They're important." Knuckles pinpointed as he shook his knuckles. "Although personally I'm more into pieces of the Master Emerald, because that is the most important thing to me!"
Toadette shook her head as she extended out her arms, smiling while shining her head lamp through the cave. "Not to me, they aren't. They're not like a power star-"
"Oh those are everywhere, don't even get me started!" Knuckles barked as he stomped his right foot on the ground. "They're so worthless!"
As Knuckles and Toadette began arguing with each other, Dry Bowser noticed a nearby empty mine cart as he squinted his eyes. Deciding to jump in, Dry Bowser held onto the sides as the cart rolled down the rail tracks. Knuckles and Toadette turned to see that the third member of their trio took off within a cart, screaming as they dashed after him on the tracks.
"Hey wait!" Knuckles exclaimed as he decided to try gliding instead since he would cover more in the air and get a heightened sense of finding shards.
"You can't just leave us behind like that!" Toadette shouted as she tripped on her face, letting out a wet fart as she got back up on her feet, catching up quickly. "I already felt that burn from that stubborn captain I knew!"
"There's nothing I can do," Dry Bowser calmly responded as he felt some of his more fragile bones falling out of his bony body, with the cart ricocheting as it was as rackety as one would expect it to be.
