When he got there he noticed a little congregration of people all looking at two caskets entering the ground near Lily and James Potter. Peter crept closer and the breath in his little throat got caught.

They were burying Remus Lupin and Sirius Black...Remus beside Lily and Sirius beside James.

Peter gave a little squeak of dismay. And that's when he looked at Harry James Potter's face.

He saw the way Harry had grabbed Luna Lovegood's hand and hold it tightly, while silent tears made their way down his cheeks. He saw the anguish, the pain, and most importantly the hatred in his emerald green eyes, and got a sudden revelation.

What had he done to this poor child? Was he really that much of a coward that he had to do this an innocent child to keep his own hide safe from harm? Was that truly who he was? He was pathetic...and he knew it now. By looking into Harry's green eyes, he could tell he did a wrong, that no matter how many good things he did to try to redeem himself, it wouldn't suffice. it wouldn't be good enough. It would never be good enough.

No one saw the small jet of green light back in an open wheat field. Peter Pettigrew's dead body hit the ground, with a sad smile on his face. Maybe...just maybe in heaven he could reconcile with his old friends again...
