Note

Note: yet another poem from Sarah to Jareth

Power

You have no power over me

Or so I thought

I put memories of you in the back of my head,

Only to have them resurface an hour later.

I was so stupid!

I created you to be the lion,

And you turned into the kitten.

You were the king,

But you became my slave.

You would turn me mornings of gold,

And spin me valentine evenings.

If I had listened

But I didn't.

I couldn't hear.

Or wouldn't.

I hear so clearly now, though.

Now that it's too late.

I thought that I had won,

Or had I?

You did have power over me,

More then I could have imagined.

You took my memories,

Replaced them with you,

Told me in so many ways.

You trapped me, ensnared me,

But only to keep me there.

You taunted me,

Insulting every step of the way,

You had to be near me.

You were so cruel!

But cruelty masked kindness

Anger masked love.

You have all power over me.
