The first thing that occurs to me when I wake up out of the dark of my subconscious is fire stabbing into my right side, aches where I've never ached before, armor that I initially feel is crushing me rather than protecting me and, the frequent thoughts, of OH SWEET MERCIFUL GOD THIS IS PAINFUL. WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT? WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?
Then my memory kicks back in, and I remember I'm in the Boron mines of the Mojave Desert (well, more accurately, I just had a small trailer office collapse onto me) and remember the situation I got involved in.
It had started with me trying to talk some bully victims out of using the school to test out their new powers, had turned into a bloody aerial battle all across LA (not completely suckish), led to me beating those kids down, and led me to encounter the Mindfreak wannabe who had convinced them to do so in the first place. And when I tried to take on Mr. Dark, Blue and Creepy, I got curbstomped thrown into a kriffing trailer.
And now as I start to see more clearly, I watch as some superotakus apparently try and fight the guy who just pwned me – The AF. Why they chose the name, no clue. And then I feel another stab of pain through my chest.
I can see some of the shrapnel has bypassed the armor and gotten into my chest, and feel something hot, and most likely red, trickle out my chest.
I'm not supposed to be a superhero, I'm not supposed to be fighting forces way out of my league. Hell, I shouldn't even have been able to get armor like what I'm wearing.
So, boy and girls, the million dollar question: How in the hell did I get here?
And so, my first contribution to the AF. This first arc will serve as my origin story as to how I first met you guys and how I first came to be connected to Tony Stark. I'm also going to sew the seeds of future arcs within this arc.
Something I noticed with the other AF is that you guys tend to have single arc fics – i.e. like anime and manga. I intend to make mine more like an ongoing comic book with some crossover events thrown in occasionally.
Now to get back to work on Chapter 1.
