Hailey sighed as she and her best friend Sarah sat in the living room, watching How to Train Your Dragon 2 for the billionth time. Sarah turned to her. "What's wrong?" She questioned. Hailey paused the movie. "I'm bored," She answered. Sarah groaned as she sat up. "What do you wanna do?" She questioned, cracking her neck. Hailey shrugged,"Don't know."
Sarah turned her gaze back to the frozen television screen. She groaned. "What?" Hailey questioned. "Jack should be the one kissing Hiccup," Sarah answered. "I doubt my dad would allow that," Hailey said. "Allow what?" Hailey's dad questioned, walking into the room. "Jack and Hiccup kissing," Sarah answered.
That's when Hailey got an idea.
"Why don't we do it?" She said. "Do what?" Sarah questioned. "The ultimate crossover," Hailey said,"How to Train Your Dragon 2 meets Rise of the Guardians." "As a movie?" Sarah questioned. Hailey nodded,"With Jay Baruchel and Chris Pine as our beloved main characters, Jack and Hiccup!"
Hailey's dad smiled,"I'll give you girls some paper and a pencil." So Sarah and Hailey sat down and began to write out the plot and script for their new movie.
It took… a lot longer than they thought it would be. They filled notebooks with ideas, bits of dialogue, some quick storyboards, some potential songs for the album, and then, finally, a plot. With the plot finished, they started writing out the actual script. That was the hardest part, seeing how they went through version after version, discarding one after the other because some scenes wouldn't work and many other important milestones wouldn't be reached. But, they finally came up with a plot that included everything they wanted.
Hailey smacked the huge stack of paper in front of her dad the next day, grinning from ear to ear. "It's done." She said. He looked at her, then at the papers, then back at her.
"Done with what?" He asked, raising his eyebrows.
"You know! Sarah and I said we were going to write a movie that was the ultimate How To Train Your Dragon and Rise Of The Guardians crossover? Well, here it is!" She said, tapping the papers. "We worked really hard, and we finally got it done!"
"It took a while, huh?" He said, grinning.
"Let's just say I have a new appreciation for what you do, dad." She said.
"Thanks." He said. "Aren't you late for school?" He added, looking at the clock. Hailey looked at the clock, and her eyes widened.
"Yup! Well, see you after school!" She said, grabbing her backpack and running out.
"I'll start reading it!" He called.
"Thanks! Bye!" Hailey said as she threw the door open and ran out. Her dad laughed, and took a sip of his coffee before picking up the script and started reading it.
Hailey and Sarah met up before classes started.
"So, did you give it to him?" Sarah asked.
"Of course I did! He looked so impressed! Do you really think he'll make it into a movie?" Hailey asked.
"We'll have to see, now, won't we?" Sarah said, smirking as the two of them filed into class.
After school, they went back to Hailey's house, only to find her dad waiting for them on the front porch. He was talking on his phone rapidly, laughing a bit, before going back to talking very seriously. They looked at each other, a little confused, before looking back at him. "You know what? Here they are. I'll- look, I'll call you back, okay? Okay. Yeah- yeah, okay, BYE." He said, hanging up the phone and shoving it in his pocket.
"Are you girls ready to direct a movie?" He said, throwing his arms out wide and smiling at them.
"NO WAY!" Hailey shouted. Sarah's jaw dropped. "Are you serious?" Hailey questioned. "I've been talking with the others all day, and they've agreed," He said,"As long as you girls do the directing." Hailey and Sarah screamed, jumping up and down. "Nowaynowaynowaynoway!" Hailey said over and over again.
She ran up and hugged her dad, still completely excited. "Thank you so much!" She yelled. "You two are the ones that did it!" He said, smiling. "So when can we go to the studio?" Sarah questioned. "Saturday," Hailey's dad replied,"We have to get the two casts together first." Hailey and Sarah nodded.
"Definitely." Hailey said. "Are you guys going to talk to them?"
"Nope. You are." Her dad said. "What?" Sarah asked. "We thought," He said,"That since you two are the directors, you two should tell them how things are gonna work out." Sarah forced herself not to squeal. "This is gonna be awesome!" Hailey said. "Well, you guys should probably get yourselves ready, huh?" Her dad said. "Yeah!" Sarah said. "Oh my god, this is actually happening!" "I know!" Hailey squealed. "C'mon, let's go!"
That Saturday, the two casts were called and were on their way. Hailey and Sarah went over the scripts in the car as Hailey' dad drove them to the studio.
What they didn't know, was that some of the casts were arriving early.
Meanwhile ~
Chris Pine sighed as he made his way toward DreamWorks studios. He had got a call this morning saying that they were gonna shoot a sort of prequel movie for 'Rise of the Guardians' and needed Jack Frost back at the studio. Naturally, Chris agreed and told them that he'd be there at 3:00. They understood and said that the directors for the movie wouldn't be there till at 3:30.
That's what confused him. Because it was always one director. But two? And the fact that the cast of 'How to Train Your Dragon 2' was going to be there as well. He was just curious on what they were working on.
He turned on the cross walk and waited for the light to turn green. He stuffed his hands in his pockets and looked around. There was a coffee shop nearby, and there was still plenty of time before he had to be at the studio. Suddenly, someone bumped into him and started walking towards the other side of the street.
Chris saw a giant Semi-Truck heading right towards the man. He ran. "Look out!" He said, before he pushed him out of the way, onto the other sidewalk. Chris ended up landing on top of the person, but hey, at least they were safe!
"You really have to-!" Chris was already chastising before he looked down at the person under him. He blinked, utterly baffled for a moment before he climbed off the person. "Sorry. You're… you're Jay, right? Jay Baruchel?" He asked. Of course he knew who he was! And now that he did… it was a million times worse. Well, sort of.
"Y-Yeah. That's me." Jay said, sitting up. "Thanks… I mean, I didn't see that coming…" He said, swallowing thickly. 'Is that-? Holy shit, did Chris Pine just save my life?!' he thought frantically, looking anywhere but at his savior.
"No problem." Chris said, rolling to his feet neatly and holding out his hand. "Need some help?" He asked gently. Jay barely nodded before taking the other's hand and stood up. "Are you feeling okay? Nothing broken?" He asked, worried.
"I… I think I'm good, thanks." Jay said. "I should probably uh… yeah, I'm Chris." He said, not really knowing if the other knew or not.
"Chris Pine?" Jay asked with a wary smile. "Yeah, I sort of figured." Chris nodded. "Uhm… so yeah, thanks for, uh, you know, saving my life and everything. Really appreciate it, you know, seeing how I would've actually died…" He said, and 'holy shit, you're rambling. Jay, you're making it awkward, stop talking!' Surprisingly, Chris laughed.
"Well, that would have been unfortunate." He said. "Where're you headed?" He asked. That pulled Jay up short. "Ah, well, you know, just to the studio, apparently there's a meeting they want me at… or something." Jay said.
"Really?" Chris asked, raising an eyebrow at him. "I was heading there myself." He said. "For the same reason." He added. "Nice." Jay said. "So, you think Rise of the Guardians is finally getting its sequel?" He asked casually as if Chris wasn't on top of him, literally a minute ago.
"I hope so." Chris said. "And what, you think How to Train Your Dragon is going to get some kind of sub-movie?" He asked. "Sub-movie?" Jay asked. "Well, yeah. It already has three movies, so what if there's like a movie in the same universe but… different?" Chris asked.
"Well, I don't know about a sub-movie," Jay joked, "but they want me for something so…" He trailed off, letting a shrug finish off his sentence. Chris smiled. "Why don't I buy you a coffee? Then we can both go see what the fuss is about?" He suggested. Jay blinked. "Ah, yeah, sure." He replied, smiling a bit. Coffee didn't sound like a bad idea right about now.
