Chapter 1

Karkat sat there at the tiny cafe table, waiting for his "date's" return, disbelieving the fact that he actually gave in to Dave's request to get coffee with him. Dave sat down across from him brandishing a black coffee and a peppermint-white chocolate latte.

"Here's your girly drink." He said reaching across to hand him the white "girly drink". Slipping, it dropped from Dave's hand, fell on the table and splashed all over Karkat's outfit.

"God damn it, Strider!" Karkat shouted.

"Well, how about I walk you back to your place to get a change of clothes?"

"Fine, but don't expect me to get another cup of coffee with you." Karkat glared at Dave.

They exited the cafe and began the short wall to Karkat's apartment. As they reached the door to the apartment building Karkat began searching for his keys.

"Damn it!" Karkat muttered.

"What's wrong." Dave asked.

"I think I left my keys inside." He muttered.

"How do you leave your keys inside?"

"Shut your fucking mouth for once, would you?" Karkat growled.

"Well, if you'd be nice I may allow you to go back to my place with me."

"Why would I want to go back to your place?" Karkat sneered.

"Actually, I can think of a few reasons." Dave said, earning an expectant glare from Karkat. "It'll be dark soon. It's going to be rather cold once it does. Your clothes have coffee all over them. You're probably going to be out here a whole. I have a warm place with a comfortable bed and clean clothes. Plus I believe I hear rain." Dave smirked, ticking the reasons off on his fingers.

Karkat sighed. "Fine. Can I come back to your apartment?"

Dave smiled. "What's the magic word?"

Through gritted teeth, Karkat said, "Can I go back to your apartment, please?"

"You know, you didn't have to ask." Dave said, basking in the victory.

As they neared the door to the outside world Karkat realized dave was correct. It was, in fact, raining. Actually, it was pouring.

Karkat stopped. "We can't go out there. It's pouring."

Dave laughed. "Afraid of getting a little wet?"

"A little? We'll be soaked!" Karkat said, voice raised.

"Well, that's the only way to clean, dry clothes, so let's go." Dave opened the door and continued outside. Karkat, seeing no other option, quickly followed after him into the downpour.

After a rather long walk they finally reached the apartment. As soon as Dave opened the door Karkat rushed in to get out of the never-ending onslaught of water. They climbed the five flights if stairs it took to reach Dave's apartment. Dave unlocks the door to a messy living room. Clothes were thrown on the back of a beat up red couch. Old pizza boxes laid ignored on the coffee table.

"This is the living room. The room over there is the bathroom. You can go and take a shower if you want. There's a clean towel in there. I'll go find you some clothes that might fit." Dave walked off and disappeared into a room to the right.

Karkat walked the other direction to the bathroom, noticing the excessive amounts of shampoo bottles along the shower shelf. He chuckled. "He must really love his hair." He removed his shirt, pants, and boxers and folded them into a little pile, setting the pile by the sink, an started the hot water in the shower.

There was a light knock before the door opened to Dave holding a folded pile of clothes. Both stood frozen in place. Or at least Karkat did as Dave's eyes slowly traveled down his pale chest to his flat stomach and continued until they rested just below his waistline.

Dave quickly switched his gaze to the floor. "Here's your clothes." He said, holding out the small pile. He waited until Karkat took them to quickly turn and leave, closing the door behind himself.
