Thousands of grains of sand shift slowly as two bare feet move across the expanse of beach without a destination. The rough skin of worn soles are covered in the fine white powder. The feet halt their movements suddenly. Tilting her head upward the girl looks towards the inky sky looming overhead. Slowly, her chapped lips turn upwards slightly, barely noticeable to the average man. Eyes the color of a Caribbean tide glisten with tears threaten to spill over. They flutter close resting their dark lashes on porcelain skin, pale from the constant darkness of this realm.

Images flash across her mind, though she cannot remember if they're her memories. Unknown to her is time since she was thrown into this place ten years ago. The chain of memories residing inside her heart have become jumbled. She has not heard a voice but her own in a decade, but her friends voices stand out to her like the single star visible in the black abyss above. During the rare event that she's able to rest her eyes, she dreams of the sun kissed and dusty brown hair of her best friends. Echoing in her ears she can hear their voices as if they were there with her, holding her in their embrace like a security blanket shielding her from the harsh touch of loneliness.

A soft wind brushes through her sapphire hair as she sits there staring at the crystal moon on the horizon. Silent dark waves roll into shore, the water washing her feet clean of the soft white powder. The dark waters and charcoal sky suddenly waver and morph into clear water and a powder blue sky scattered with cotton clouds. Her smile broadened into a grin, the feeling of such happiness and hope had become unfamiliar to her. A barely audible whisper escaped her lips, even she wasn't sure she had said the word. The name had become lost to her until this moment, but she felt her heart open and the light inside her fill to the brim of overflowing.

"Sora."
