Disclaimer: None of the characters belong to me and this is only loosely based on the movie and short story by Stephen King. This poem is mainly for Chris and his tragic life. Oh and I submitted this originally under the penname NewFace. I do not go by that name anymore. Enjoy! :)
Cried A Thousand Tears
Your hopes were that of a boy in a cruel world
Eyes of yours had yet to see the pain stretched wide
An optimism so fragile and threaded
The heaven's hands held a cold, salty riptide
Though you grew older you stayed the same
Youth never grows tired
Never does change
But in the lines around your eyes
A story was told
Of how a real man cries
Because you cried a thousand tears
For stories that you heard
Your heart had a voice that spoke volumes
Without a single word
The green of innocence does fade
While the gold of a soul barely stays
Time passes long in the hours of day
One day you woke again
With your life gone away
Soaking words in with a dry conscience, going up
Showing those who look your complete yet empty cup
Tree-houses and pretend soldiers from when your world began
A boy masquerading in the skin of a man
Was it worth the faith you gave, to honor the world
Because once more, a thousand tears were cried
The day that faith died.
